HART OF DIXIE

I got caught up with this new TV Show of Hart of Dixie. I heard that this is a series about a New York doctor named Dr. Zoe Hart, played by the charming Rachel Bilson. She is an aspiring surgeon who end up in a small town called Bluebell as a general practitioner due to unexpected events in her life. The story doesn’t revolve around medical drama like ER or Grey’s Anatomy. It is more on relationships, about adapting to a different environment and about a woman learning to  be accepted in  a place where she may seem like fish out of water. Apart from loving the outfit of Dr. Zoe Hart’s  arch-nemesis, Lemon Breeland in the show, I like that I can identify with what Zoe Hart is going through, a doctor figuring out the ropes in a new atmosphere and proving herself amidst possible doubting Thomases. Though I see how mediocre (and bordering-on-bad) the writers of this show are and some medical informations come off as not well-research, I still manage to get hooked by this series. Rachel Bilson got a lot of flak to be picked as the lead start of the show. Critics say she isn’t a good enough actress ( I am not gonna argue with the critics here. I believe Jaime King is a much better actor than her) and she doesnt look like a doctor at all. Well, if the show’s critics isnt convinced that a minuscule, pubescent-looking lady wearing shortie-shorts or booties can be a doctor, they can look for a certain barely-five feet Filipina doctor working in Singapore who always get a surprised look when people learn she is actually  a doctor. But this made me realize that a show can still be sucessful even with mediocre screenwriters (their plot and love stories can be topsy-turvy and incoherent at times). Ingredients of a successful series would be an IT celebrity with a large following (Rachel Bilson), great costume designers ( clothes & accessories  of Lemon Breeland) and a hot dude ( Wade Kisella, Dr. Zoe Hart’s other love interest, played Wilson Bethel, Yes Zoe Hart got hot two love interest on the show. Lucky girl!). They must be doing something right because, well, the show will have a third season, to be aired on October 2013.

Talking about Wilson Bethel, this hot dude (which I am also seriously crushing on currently) created a spoof video starring him,  Rachel Bilson along with other cast members of the Hart of Dixie to address some of the critics of Rachel Bilson. It so funny and  great way to respond to naysayers..

Watch this funny video that got viral after it was posted:

FASHION INSPIRATION: LEMON BREELAND OF HART OF DIXIE

July 30, 2013 by Little Miss Honey 291 Comments

I am currently really into this show, Hart of Dixie. It’s a story of a New York doctor who finds herself working (begrudgingly) as  General Practitioner in a smalltown in the South called Bluebell. Though this show, I believe is very poorly written (though it  actually through the season) and I still can’t stop watching it. I should be rooting more on the lead star Dr. Zoe Hart played by Rachel Bilson, well, because she is a doctor and I am a doctor. But the reason why I enjoy watching the series is more because of her arch-enemy, Lemon Breeland played by Jaime King. She is a spoiled and bossy Southern belle and daughter of the other doctor in town.

Lemon Breeland is an adorable character. And I love love love her outfits. Before there was a Carrie Bradshaw in Sex & the City then came Blair Waldorf and her headbands in Gossip Girl, now came Lemon Breeland with her girly dresses, flower headbands & clips and her chunky accessories.

She looks so dainty and feminine. Jaime King collaborated with the stylist of the show and had Grace Kelly as their fashion inspiration.

To update her vintage look, she spruce it up with chunky necklace, flower clips or crystal headbands.

I love her make up too. It looks impeccable. She always look fresh and clean. She would either wear a bright red lipstick for a pop of color or use pink tones on her cheeks & lips for delicate subtlety.  Her lovely golden hair are either worn in soft waves or worn in a cute ponytail.

If Lemon Breeland is real, she would be shopping in places like:

1. Accessorize

2. Cotton On

3. Forever New (not Forever 21)

For make up, she would be wearing:

1. Clinique Chubby Stick in  Woopin’ Watermelon

2. MAC Retro Matte Lipstick In Ruby Woo

3. Urban Decay Naked 1 Makeup Palette

Besides her fashion sense, I do admire Lemon Breeland’s character. Some might find her annoying and too bossy but I guess that’s also her strengths. (*Beware spoilers ahead.) Even when she got dumped at the altar on her wedding day by her boyfriend of 15 years, found out that her mother left them to have a new family of her own and learned  that her bestfriend snatched her old flame, she still stand strong and faced the town. She didn’t hide away or wallowed in self-pity.  She has a nonchalant attitude, not carrying of what people thinks and has a extreme focus & determination with whatever endeavour she is about to undertake.

Maybe we should learn a think or two from her, her fashion and her strength of character.  Can’t wait to watch the rest of the episodes….
