Hey Eastsiders, Little Miss Honey here. One of your sources of interesting happenings in the East community.
When I started living here in Singapore a few years ago, I moved to Pasir Ris soon after a short stay with my friends in Ang Mo Kio so I can be nearer my work place. I have walked my way all around Pasir Ris. I lived near by White Sands Mall. It is conveniently situated near Pasir Ris MRT & bus interchange. White Sands is my go-to mall. I shop there for my Dinner & Dance dress, I do my grocery there and I often grab my quick dinner there when I was still not married.
A little trivia for you guys. Do you know that Pasir Ris means “white sand” in Malay? And I got news for you. White Sands Shopping Centre is getting a facelift! There will be a new & improved White Sands Mall coming our way.
I was excited to get this from the mall a few weeks ago.
I was invited to be one of the contenders in the White Sands Resident Blogger Program.
So a few weeks ago, I gathered up with other bloggers in Sakae Sushi in White Sands Mall to get a briefing of what is in store for the new revamped mall. I was so excited to hear about the upcoming projects there have cooking for all of us Eastsiders.
If I say white sands, what is the thing that comes into your mind – a beach, relaxing and warm right? That is just what the new White Sands is going for – Easy, Cosy and Breezy. I love that idea. I like a mall that feels like a place to de-stress, where you can just relaxed and unwind. I like a mall that is unpretentious and just a perfect place for me, my family & friends to hang out. It is a perfect get-away from the bustling city and just a few bus-stops away. It gearing towards a more customer-based approach and up-to-date with technology.
There are a lot of wonderful new stuff White Sands have in store for all of you. It got me and my fellow bloggers super excited. But I will not reveal some of it just yet for now. But please don’t pinch me because of too much of my excitement, I might just reveal some of it. But do watch out for this space or subscribe to my Facebook Page so you can be updated.
While listening about the new White Sands Mall, we also got wonderful tummy treats. We had two dinners in one night! Yes! Two! First stop was at SAKAE SUSHI.
I am a fan of Asian food. Give me Chinese, Japanese & Thai food and I am one happy girl. So having a sushi night is a happy night for me.
Salmon Zukushi
These looks like art. It is too beautiful to eat. I am not very fond of sashimi but this salmon sashimi tasted wonderful & melts in my mouth. All their salmon are air-flown in daily to ensure freshness.
Trio Carpaccio
These contains Hokkaido scallop, maguro and salmon sashimi in tangy sauce.
Mini Chirashi Don
This is perfect for those on diet and wants portion-control without missing out the delicious Japanese cuisine. This is an assorted sashimi in sushi rice.
Unagi Bibinba
This is one of the favorite that night. This is a grilled eel with shredded egg and assorted vegetables with subtly charred rice and miso soup. This one is so yummy, we can help but add a few spoonful more into our plates.
Otah Katsu
Sakae Sushi is not mainly Japanese but more of a Japanese fusion. So this Otah Katsu is something that Singaporeans would love. I am so loving it too. It is a crispy breaded oath made of chunky mackerel fish.
Sakae Don
This one is perfect for sharing. Their rice is enriched with Vitamin E for added health benefits.
Sakae Fondue
The bloggers and I had so much fun trying the fondue. I have to add, it was such a fun group of bloggers that night. We were just crazy and happy trying the foods. We were high with so much good food. We were having food euphoria.
I like the chocolate dipping sauce because it is not very drippy and it coats the ice cream balls, the cookies and fresh fruits perfectly. I recommend for group of friends to try this in a fun evening out.
With our slightly distended tummies and adjusting our belts to a few inches wider, we headed to THAI EXPRESS for another round of dinner.
Green Mango Salad
Green mango is my favourite fruit next to pomelo. I love anything sour. This salad is just perfect for me. I can finish the whole plate myself.
Khao Neua Phat Krapow
This is stir-fried minced beef with Thai basil served with rice. I love this one. I keep getting a fork full of this stir-fried beef. It was not too spicy for me which I like.
Poo Phat Pong Kari
This is a soft-shelled crab with egg and onion curry. It was very soft. This is my housemate;s go-to dish in Thai Express.
Kanom Pang Na Kung
This is prawn toast. It comes with a Thai sauce. If you know me, I love food with dipping sauce.
Ta Kor
This was the first dessert of the night in Thai Express. This is the famous Thai fragrant panda jelly with coconut custard. This is Little Miss Honey- approved.
Man Cheam
This is steamed sweet tapioca in coconut milk. I have never tasted tapioca cooked like this before and I must say, I liked it.
Thai Chendol (Chilled)
It was unfortunate that I wasn’t able to try the Malaysian chendol in Kuala Lumpur but I got try the Thai Chendol. It quite similar to the Philippines’ HaloHalo. This a sweetened ice dessert with fragrant jackfruit slices, colorful strains of chendol, chewy flour with rich coconut milk and traditional Thai palm sugar.
It was such a fun and tummy-satisfying night with fellow bloggers.
