Two Sundays ago, my family and I headed to Marina Square to celebrate A Sweet Christmas Party with Sophisca.

Sophisca is a Taiwan Specialty Candy Brand that is available in Singapore at Marina Square Mall and Changi Airport Terminal 3. It was started in 1997 and became a favorite confectionary shop by many. It is dubbed as “A Place For Sweethearts” and you can tell why because they give their customers the perfect sweetness with their products & packaging.

Along with fellow bloggers and their families, we get to enjoy a sweet wonderful time with Sophisca to jumpstart the merry mood for the yuletide season.  We were introduced with the Sophisca Christmas Collection 2016. There were so many to choose from, with lots of pretty and creative packaging and prices can go as low as $2.

Here are some of them:

Christmas Stockings Blue Santa Gift $12.30

Christmas Snow-Lamb Bag (Green) $11.90

Sophisca Sg Christmas Lunchbox Set $15.90

They are just perfect for the holidays. “Santa Clauses” can get the prepared Christmas stockings with prepacked sweet goodies in it for thier “good boys and girls”. They are great gifts for your nephews, nieces, your friends and your friends’ kids. It is also a fussfree token to giveaway  to your colleagues at work that fits the theme of Christmas.

It was a fun sight with all the families checking out and sampling the goodies that Sophisca has to offer. My toddler a.k.a. the sweets-monster, was so happy with all the candies & chocolates he got to sample. He was definitely in sugar-high.

Sophisca had a sumptuous lunch prepared for us . There was also an artist available that can draw  a caricature of you and your family on the spot. We were not able to do that because our toddler can sit still for a good one minute and our 9months old also can be a bit wiggly, hahaha. There was also a booth for us to print our photos from our phone on the spot.

GREAT GIFT IDEAS: SOPHISCA TRUE WORDS “SINGAPORE STYLE” CHOCOLATES

June 27, 2016 by Little Miss Honey 1,641 Comments

Sophisca Chocolates

I often rack my brain what to bring home to my family and friends in the Philippines from Singapore. I want to give them something that is a uniquely Singaporean treat. I have brought them usual merlion chocolates too many times already. I got excited when I learned about Sophisca, a Taiwan Specialty Candy Brand, has launched a True Words “Singapore Style” Chocolates. Singlish is something that is uniquely Singaporean. So Sophisca has newly launched 16 cute tiles of chocolates with a Singlish phrase (except for the I ❤️ SG) like “Huat Ah”, “Shiok“, etc. It’s nice to introduce other people to the magical words of Singlish. It is a great gift idea to give to family and friends when travelling.

Sophisca Chocolates

Here are some of the Singlish words & phrases and their meanings:

Paiseh – shy or embarrassing

Huat Ah – so prosperous

Lobang – opportunity

Shiok – cool; great; delicious; superb

Relak Lah – chill or relax

Kaisu – afraid

Blur As Sotong – don’t know what is going on or don’t know you are doing

This is the first  Sophisca True Words collection designed and customed to a particular country except Taiwan, of course, where Sophisca originated.  Since Singapore National Day is coming around very soon in August, these can also be served on parties or gifts of companies to their employees to remind them of National Day.

The Sophisca True Words “Singapore Style” chocolates packaging look so cute with its cartoons and bright colors. Each box cost $2.90 with 3 packets of chocolates inside.

I love that they have opened a branch in Changi Airport Terminal 3 #B2-42. So convenient for my quick shopping to my travel destination. These will definitely be my go-to take-home gifts whenever I travel back to the Philippines or when I am travelling to any other countries  & I need thank-you gifts to my host or to my  foreigner friends.

DIN DIN AT DIN TAI FUNG

September 24, 2013 by Little Miss Honey 1,706 Comments

Din Tai Fung

I love siomai and I have long been curious of the xiao long bao.  Xiao Long Bao are steamed dumplings with warm soup inside served in bamboo basket.  Din Tai Fung is a popular Taiwanese restaurant  that specializes on xiao long bao. They have branches here in Singapore, as well as in Malaysia, HongKong, Indonesia, Korea, Japan, Thailand, Australia and the United States.

Din Tai Fung

My sister and I had dinner at one of the branches of Din Tai Fung in Marina Bay Sands Shoppes. The queue was really long. I guess you know that the place is good because people don’t mind queuing to get a table. While waiting, we were given a checklist of the menu with a number written by a pentel pen. Then we wait for our number to flash. To entertain ourselves we watched workers of Din Tai Fung make the xiao long bao through the glass.

After 20 minutes, we were seated.

We got:

PORK XIAO LONG BAO

Din tai Fung Xiao Long Bao

It was a nice twist to the dumplings we love and know. These cute buns are filled with warm soup and bits of ground pork. So be careful when you handle your chopsticks or you will spill that soup. It was yummy and filling! I likey!

BRAISED BEEF NOODLE SOUP

braised beef noodle soup

It is mildly spicy and filled with lots of fattening beef cuts. You can tell from the swimming oil in the soup. It also has noodles in it. This bowl might look just enough for one person but believe me, me and my sister can’t even finish it. It was really heavy on the tummy.

SHRIMP FRIED RICE

A meal is not complete without a rice for us Filipinos. We got this shrimp fried rice which was just perfect. I love that they didn’t scrimp on the shrimps (hahaha! I love how that rhymes.) It was one of the recommended rice in Din Tai Fung.

I will definitely come back to try more xiao long bao and other varieties of it. Can’t wait to bring my hubby here….
