6 WAYS TO LOOK GOOD WITHOUT MAKEUP

April 18, 2016 by Little Miss Honey 1 Comment

Oh, I would die for a flawless skin. I am not blessed with perfect skin so enters makeup. I have to admit, I am a makeup junkie. I love makeup because somehow it helps boost your confidence and hide the imperfect skin. But recently, I been opting more in the no-make-up make-up look. I also have ventured out with naked face, sans makeup and it is liberating! I realized there are some tricks and ways to look good without makeup.

  1. GENTLE FACIAL SCRUBS TWICE WEEKLY

I have discovered facial scrubs the last few months. I have used facial scrubs twice weekly and my face glows the day after. It scrubs off the dead skin cells and makes my skin more clean & glowing. I particularly love the FaceShop Black Sugar Facial Scrub. The grains maybe a bit large but it wasn’t abrasive and my skin didn’t react to it. I love that it is all natural and the smell is not so strong.

  1. EXFOLIATE WITH AHAs and BAHAs

AHAs (Alpha-Hydroxy Acids) and BAHAs (Beta-Hydroxy Acids) are chemical exfoliants that allows you to have a dewy, youthful skin. Examples of AHAs are glycolic acid and lactic acid while an example of BAHAs is salicylic acid. AHAs are best for sun-damaged and wrinkled skin while BAHAs are good for acne-prone and sensitive skin. A lot of people swears by AHAs when they incorporate it in their daily skin regimen. Unfortunately, my skin doesn’t react well with AHAs. It makes my skin too dry and irritated. But I have used BAHAs given by my dermatologist and people would complement me for my dewy, glowing skin. Salicylic acids are good for pimples and works for me. Use these exfoliant with caution though and consult your dermatologist first.

  1. USE MOISTURISER

I didn’t realize the importance of moisturizer until in my 30s. I never thought it was essential in my skincare regimen because I used to have very oily skin. It makes the skin more supple and you can go without makeup as long as your skin looks healthy and moisturized.

  1. USING COLLAGEN MASKS

When I do my twice-weekly routine of facial scrub, I follow on collagen masks and it works wonders. It makes my skin look and feel so soft. It makes me look like I sleep well for hours which is not the case considering I am now a mom of two.

  1. DRINKING LOTS OF WATER

Drinking lots of water makes my skin looks supple and healthy. I noticed when I drink softdrinks, my skin looks dull, dehydrated and my face looks bloated. But when I drink a sufficient amount of water, I don’t even need makeup or foundation base.

  1. WEAR A LARGE DARK SUNGLASSES

Even at times when our skin is not as its best, we can still look good without makeup by wearing a large dark sunglasses that suits your face shape. You still look classy with added mystery. This is one trick that most celebrities do especially they are out doing errands or after an airplane flight so they can look good for paparazzi shots.

PROJECT TRANSFORMATION WITH FLARE WELLNESS (Part 3 of 3)

Flare Welness

Flare Wellness

It was my last session with Flare Wellness for our Project Transformation collaboration. My skin  has been extremely dry due to my pregnancy hormones. My hyperpigmentation on my face already faded 80%, with no sign of active acne after my two sessions with Flare Wellness. My battle is more on the dry rough patches on some parts of my skin brought about my pregnancy.

I was greeted by founder & owner of Flare Wellness, the elegant & beautiful Sharifah when I entered the shop.

I started my session with the Eucalyptus Foot Soak with epsom salts. Having a foot soak on a Monday evening felt oh so relaxing.

Eucalyptus Foot Soak

Then I started on my Rosewater Organic Facial. Makeup was removed from face using some wet sponges and creamy makeup remover. Then I felt a rosewater spritz over my face. Then comes a grainy exfoliating beads massaged over my face and wet sponges were used to removed the facial scrub. Then rosewater were spritzed all over my face again. This toner spritz were done several time in the whole procedure. I love the smell of roses. It is my favourite flower, you know. It felt so cool and refreshing. Then a creamy emollient was massaged over my face. There was also a sticky paste like substance applied to some of my troubled area on my face.

Then in about an hour, my facial was done.

One thing that I love about Flare Wellness is the interior decors of the place. It looks so chic and feminine. I feel like I am really pampered like a princess.

I left the Flare Wellness with a smile on my face. I would say, the rosewater facial is my favourite of all. It has definitely moisturised my dry patches on my face. My skin felt like it has drank a gallon of water. I love the refreshed and cool sensation on my face. My husband even noticed that I looked radiant when I got home and I wasn’t even wearing make-up.

Thank you, Flare Wellness for these wonderful experience. Yes, I felt my skin has definitely transformed into a better than it initially was. I has to say this Project Transformation was a success!

PROJECT TRANSFORMATION WITH FLARE WELLNESS (PART 1 of 3)

One point in my life, I went to a dermatologist and said, “I want to improve my skin so I can wear less make-up”. Unfortunately, he didn’t come through for me. I was never blessed with perfect skin. But I came to realize throughout the years that the best way to care for your skin is to use less skin products and use the least amount of harsh chemicals. I noted that most organic products reacts better with my skin.

I am collaborating with Flare Wellness to take part of a  3-part Project Transformation which entails 3 sessions of organic facials to yield results of a better skin that maybe eventually allows me to wear less makeup.

Last Tuesday, I headed to Bugis Cube, just at the back of Bugis Junction. I was greeted by the lovely owner, Sharifah and Flare Wellness therapist, Ischa. We discussed my skin condition. I have a lot of hyperpigmentation on my face from old acne spots, birthmarks and sun damage. I have always had acne-prone skin. I used to have very oily skin but I noted that my skin is getting very dry now.

Their cozy boutique are filled with organic products mostly from Europe. You will love the smell of calmness and floral scent that emitting from the boutique.

Flare Wellness

We started off with foot soak. This is the first time I have a foot soak before a facial. Ischa told me that all their facial starts with a foot soak to give that state of calm and relaxation for customers before proceeding with the facial. The aromatic foot soak contains lavender oil, Epsom salt, lemongrass and pastel pink clay. It made my feet feeling soft and smelling nice.

This is the treatment room. It looks very cozy and feminine.

Ischa did the Vitamin C Facial on me to address my hyperpigmentation concerns. Once the facial session began, Ischa placed headphones on my ears to enjoy some soothing music while doing my treatment. I said to mysef that I will sleep but I felt so relaxed, I dozed off.

Flare Wellness

The facial was done using only organic products. A light massage was also done. They don’t do extractions.

After the treatment, I didn’t see the usual redness that I often get after facial. My skin looks more hydrated. I had a break out on the right cheek and a dry patch on the same area, the treatment smoothened and hydrated the blemished area. I still haven’t seen the total effect of the facials yet. But so far, I am liking it. 2 more session to go. Join me in this skin transformation journey. Wish me luck!
