(Wikipedia) ‘An Expatriate (often shortened to Expat) is a person temporarily or permanently residing in a country other than that of their citizenship. The word comes from the Latin terms ex (“out of”) and patria (“country, fatherland”).
This blog aims to discover people who are adventurers like me, venturing out in a new place to call home and creating memories. I have previously lived with my parents and siblings in the Saudi Arabia when I was in high school. I have enjoyed and cherished my memories in the beautiful Sandbox I once called my home. Now, I am in a new adventure with my husband and son here in Singapore.

1. Can you tell me a little bit about yourself and where you are originally from?
Hello everyone! I’m Pallavi from the Lifestyle & Travel blog , ‘My Singapore Diary‘. I am a sales manager by profession and a blogger, photographer and traveler by passion. Originally from the vibrant land of India, I moved her over 4 years ago. Since then, Singapore is a place I call home.
2. What made you decide to move to Singapore? How long have you been here?
My husband’s job was the reason we moved here. Its been over 4 years and counting.
3. What do you miss about your home country?
I miss the street food and the vibrant colors that you can see on very street corner. I miss the celebrations that come along with our beautiful festivals and more importantly I miss my family.
4. What are the wonderful discoveries and things you like about Singapore?
I love exploring and discovering little nooks and corners of Singapore. Thanks to my photography club, I have discovered lovely places such as Joo Chiat and Armenian street. Working in the shipping industry, I have had the opportunity to discover hidden islands like Pulau Satamu.
I love Singapore and all that it stands for – safety, racial harmony and melting pot of different Asian cultures. Apart from these, here are the ten things i love about Singapore.
5. What are the 3 advices or tips you can give to fellow expats in Sinagpore?
Come with an open mind and be open to experiencing a different but vibrant culture.
Bring lots of summer clothes if you haven’t already!
Explore the café culture.. Singapore has lovely and quirky cafes that serve delicious food!

7. Where do you get your inspirations? Who or what inspires you?
I get my inspiration from the environment, my family and from reading other blogs.
8. Tell us more about your blog.
My blog documents by journey as an expat in Singapore. It contains travelogues, restaurant reviews , photowalks around Singapore and few personal musings. It’s basically an extension of who I am 🙂
9. Share with us your blogging journey.
I first started blogging when we moved here but it was only a few months back that I started investing more time and efforts into it. It’s a wonderful hobby and a creative outlet that I enjoy immensely.
10. I love your photos in your blog! What camera do you use and what is your editing process?
Thank you Honey! I use two cameras – Nikon P100 and a Samsung point and shoot. For editing , I use Pic Monkey.
11. Lastly, can you share with us what is your inspirational mantra in life?
Be positive and experience all that life has to offer 🙂 Be kind, be patient and be happy.
