I have this monthly get-together with my fellow kababayan doctors who are working in same company clinic but at different branches. It’s our chance to try out new restaurants in Singapore. We decided to try one of the restaurants in Chijmes. Chijmes is a beautiful complex that used to be a Catholic convent. Now, this historic building was restored to a commercial complex for dining and shopping. I brought J and Naj to our monthly get-together. It was Christmas time so there was a Christmas market happening. K brought her hubby and cute toddler along too.
F initially suggested chose Bobby’s Restaurant and Bar but they were fully booked. She reserved us at Prive‘ instead however when we got there, there was a mixed-up in the reservations. We serendipitously picked Wharf Oyster Bar instead and it didn’t disappoint.
We enjoyed our food alfresco. The staff was courteous and service was fast.
FRENCH FRIES ($12.00)
French fries are a great starter food. The serving comes with truffle oil, green tea and cajun. I like their french fries with the 3 dips that comes with it.
NACHOS
This is another great starter dish. It has three dips: salsa, blue cheese and guacamole. Talking with your friends and munching on these, you don’t realise you have finish several handful of nachos already. It can be addicting to dip and munch on these.
MINI SQUID RINGS ($12.00)
The mini squid rings are cooked just right and it is not oily. I wish there is more of this serving and the chili mayonnaise dip is just perfect for this. The dip is not as spicy which fit my taste.
CHICKEN WINGS ($12.00)
We love this dish! The coating of the chicken wings is mildly spicy with flavourful herbs. This is a great combination to your cold beer or even as your main course with some rice.
SEAFOOD RISOTTO
This is my second time to try risotto. I prefer how they cook the risotto in Wharf. It was not dry nor too mushy. The serving is small though. The seafood was fresh though I wish more seafood were toss in this dish.
WAGYU SIRLOIN STEAK ($58 – 150g)
The wagyu steak is mediocre and not that memorable. It is not dry nor juicy. I like the salad and gravy that comes with it.
The two hubbies got a bucket of Corona beers ($52.00).
Overall, I would recommend the Wharf Oyster Bar if you are looking for place with great ambiance and good finger foods. I have yet to try their oyster platters. I shy away from oysters for now that I am pregnant, maybe after giving birth, I will try to come back for their specialty.
