THE NAIL SOCIAL: A SOCIALLY CONSCIOUS SALON

April 20, 2015 by Little Miss Honey 1,213 Comments

Last Thursday was my pamper day. I believe women  should make time to pamper and care for themselves, not mainly for their partners but more for themselves. You feel a little better with a perfectly-filed, freshly-colored toenails. Am I right?

It was my off day last Thursday and coincidentally, it was my hubby’s off day too so he was sweet enough to accompany me for  my mani-pedi session. We headed to the hip  street of Haji Lane. I have always wanted to check out the place. I heard so many wonderful raves about Haji Lane.

We looked for this new lifestyle concept salon that offers manicure, pedicure, foot reflexology, food & beverages and fair trade retail in one roof called The Nail Social.

The Nail Social

We entered the salon and we were greeted by The Nail Social co-founder, Cheryl Ou. The place was so pretty and divine. It is a place I would love to take my girlfriends to and I am very sure they would love it as well.

I learned that The Nail Social goes far and beyond as a lifestyle salon because it is also a socially responsible establishment. This enterprise offers training & employment  opportunities to  single mothers & women from low-income households and empowering them to security & self-sufficiency. Adding to their advocacy to being socially friendly, their nail products  used are organic, non-toxic and cruelty-free. Environmentally-conscious customers would feel not guilty and would be 100% assured they are not contributing any harm to the environment. Expectant mothers would be happy with this information, knowing a trip to The Nail Social is safe for their little one in their womb.

The Nail Social offers an intimate luxurious treatment  for their customer by treating them with a one-of-a -kind service by having a personal iPad preloaded with movies, magazines, games and books. They have food & beverages available. They serve complimentary lemonade  for customers and complimentary wine on Friday & Saturday. Isn’t that fabulous?

All customers’ preference will be kept on record from their favourite nail color to their level of ticklishness to keep their service personalised and consistent. I think that is such a great idea.

I got the Signature Manicure & Pedicure. I selected  the movie  I wanted to watch  while I am getting my treatment. There was  a lot of selection to choose from. I settled in watching “Jane Eyre”. I  have read the book and I wanted to see how it translated into screen.

The Nail Social

I had a glass of lemonade and carrot cake. The carrot cake is made by one of the stay-at-home mothers at the Beyond Social Services, a non-profit family service centre. The carrot cake was so flavourful and yummy. It was one of the best carrot cake I have ever tasted.

I finished up my delicious cake first before I had my nails done.

I was enjoying my cake so much. I was oblivious with my surrounding. Hahaha!

The therapists were all so nice and gracious. They made sure you are pampered right and well taken care of.  I am loving my pink nails and fuchsia toe nails. Yey!

I love the atmosphere of the place. I love the concept of having personal iPad for the customers. I think that is such an awesome idea. Having refreshments available is double points for a foodie like me. I am really digging the wonderful concept of the place. I am so excited to share it with my friends and blog readers. It is a place I would love to take my family and friends to. It is a great place for a bachelorette party or a small birthday party gathering. They have two levels which can accommodate a party of twenty.  Plus you know that you are contributing to the empowerment of local underprivileged women by supporting The Nail Social.

For their services and menu, here is their list and their prices:

They also have products for sale. I am such an accessories gal and I am loving the products they are selling.
