5 FAVORITE OSCARS 2014 LOOKS

March 7, 2014 by Little Miss Honey 559 Comments

My hubby and I was able to catch the 86th Oscars Awards Ceremony a few nights ago. I was excited to see who will win the golden statuettes. I was able to watch most of the movies that got the Oscar nods. I love American Hustle, by the way. But besides looking out for the winners of this prestigious award show, I was also keeping an eye on the best-dressed celebrities that deserve to be given an award for their fashion sense.

I noticed that most of the celebrities wore more understated gowns and muted colors. They were going more for simplicity, clean lines, subtlety and just a right amount of sparkle. Of all the lovely ladies of the night, I picked 5 of my favourite Oscars 2014 looks.

1. JENNIFER GARNIER

I have a thing for 1920’s flapper dresses. I would love to wear frilly twirly dresses like this. Mrs. Affleck was a vision of subtle elegance in her Oscar Dela Renta gown. Her radiant personality and perky smile made this silver sparkling gown gleam even more. I love how her stylists did her hair. The soft waves of her hair framed her face well. I am liking that silver clutch bag too.

2. KATE HUDSON

This mom of two is a stunner! Now, I have an inspiration for my post-baby body. Her toned  tanned body is her perfect accessory for this gorgeous white Versace gown. No need for bigger boobs, this whole get-up is just divine. She is a superhero in my book with that matching cape for her gown.

3. EMMA WATSON

This Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry Alumni had come along way and left her friends, Harry Potter  and Ron in school while she hobnob with her new glitzy friends in Hollywood. She has grown up into a fine young lady. This is the only dark coloured gown I’ve chosen in my list.  I love the simplicity of the dress and how it hugs the perfect curves of her body. I like that the gown because it is not too mature for her age nor is it too girly or cutesy. The messy up-do is a good choice of hairstyle with this sleek silvery-black Vera Wang gown. The magic of this ensemble is her bright red lipstick which exuded an air of soft seduction. No wonder, Joseph Gordon-Levitt was mesmerised by her as they presented an award together onstage.

4. CATHERINE BLANCHETT

This Australian royalty is not only the winner for the much coveted Best Actress trophy for her role in the movie Blue Jasmine but she also gets the award for one of the best-dressed in the female category. She always knows how to pick her gowns for awards night just like she knows how to pick roles for movies. Her sparkling champagne-color gown complemented the shiny golden Oscar statue she was holding when she was announced the winner. But for me, the real highlight of her look was her heavy dangling diamond earrings swinging rhythmically as she delivered her gracious acceptance speech.

5. LUPITA NYONG’O

JLaw (or Jennifer Lawrence)  was not the only charmer during the Oscars Night. Lupita Nyong’o overnight became the crowd’s darling after impressing everyone with her performance in 12 Years A Slave and thrilled critics everywhere of her choices of outfits in all awards shows  she attended. And during the Oscars, she didn’t disappoint by wearing the light blue Prada gown. I believe this is how Cinderella would look like if she went to the ball styled by her fairy-godmother. I love how she holds the sides of her gown like a little girl princess when she climbed up the stage to receive her Best Suppeorting Actress trophy. I am not very sure of her thin headband though if its a right fit for the look but still Lupita was a star that night. Ang lupeet mo, Lupita!

How about you? Are your favourite Oscar looks?
