CYNBOLIC NAIL BAR: A WORTH-IT NAIL-PAMPERING DESTINATION TO JOHOR BAHRU

June 22, 2018 by Little Miss Honey 4,555 Comments

Cynbolic Nail Bar

One of the great things in living in Singapore is its proximity to neighbouring countries like Malaysia and Indonesia. You can go on a quick visit to these countries as easy as 1-2-3. Early this month, my family planned a trip to Johor Bahru, Malaysia for a little relaxing get-away – a pampering treat for me, a fun day at an indoor playground for the kids and a chill day of no work for hubby.

After giving birth, I always look forward for a pampering treat like a manicure &  pedicure or hair colouring. I heard of lots of Singaporeans travel to nearby Johor Bahru for their mani-pedi session. But I didn’t just want to go to any nail salon. I wanted a nail salon that emphasizes on hygiene. Being a doctor, I am aware that you can contract infections through unhygienic practices in salons. Who would want that, right? It would be a plus if the place is aesthetically pleasing and relaxing. I would love my pampering sessions be it a nail, hair or facial treatment to be an experience and  not purely service.

So on our trip to Johor, I came to know of a nail bar in Johor Bahru that delivers what I been looking for in a nail salon. I was excited to visit Cynbolic Nail Bar. We stayed for a night at Hotel Jen at Puteri Harbour. So in the afternoon while my hubby & kids are taking a nap in the hotel, I booked a Grab vehicle to Cynbolic Nail Bar which cost me only RM 8 ($3 SGD). It is just nearby Legoland Malaysia, Hello Kitty Town, Horizon Hills and Leisure Farm. As my Grab vehicle was almost reaching Cynbolic Nail Bar, I was impressed with the vicinity. The area looks so posh with a neighbouring good-looking estate. The place have several cool shops beside each other. There were still a few spaces that are vacant. And of course, there was a Starbucks in one corner.

Cynbolic Nail Bar

Cynbolic Nail Bar is a stylish nail salon that just open early this year. They require you to book appointments for nail services. I rang the bell of the shop and left my shoes outside the shop with the rest of the shoes of the customers. I was loving the vibe of the place as I entered. It was like entering into a posh cool  summer resort. The place is very spacious and aesthetically on point like magically fairy of interior design showers her fairy dust all over the place. Upon entering the front area of the nail bar, there is a space for retail products displayed that was carefully curated. There were lovely accessories, rattan bags that are so in right now, slippers and beauty products.

I was greeted by the owner of the nail bar, Cynthia, who gave me a little tour of the place. There was a long rectangle table for manicure and inner part of the salon, are comfy chairs with pretty circular basins for pedicures and foot soaks. The theme of the place gives out a sanctuary for relaxation and pampering. I was asked to choose from the menu of refreshments. There were choices of hot beverages for me to choose from. I chose the Just Jasmine Tea (RM 10).

I opted to have a gelish manicure and a regular manicure for my toes. I was given choices of what Aroma Soak I prefer for my fingers and toes. They have Peppermint, Lavender and Rose. For my fingers, I opted for Rose Soak while I chose the Lavender Soak for my feet. They use Young Living Essential Oils to provide customer the therapeutic experience. Being a fan of essential oils, particularly Young Living, I was happy to know that they are incorporating it in their treatment.

I met the two lovely therapists who did my manicure and pedicure. They made sure I was comfortable as they were doing my manicure and pedicure. They introduced me to the 5-Step Cynbolic Treatment for my nails that  ensures nourishing treatment for weak nails with application of keratin, macademia serum, centella rapid, ecrinal vitamin and ecrinal fortifying cream.

I truly enjoyed the service. The therapists were very meticulous and careful while during my manicure and pedicure. I somehow can tell if therapists are rushing and are not attuned with their customers. I was satisfied with their service. My treatment included nail shaping and buff, cuticle care, lotion application and gentle massage. I loved my candy-coloured nails.

I was surprised that after my mani-pedi, they gave me the file, buffer & toe separators they used on me placed in its pre-sterlised plastic. They have a strict use-once policy on file, buffer & toe separators. I can keep the file, buffer & toe separators and bring along in Cynbolic Nail Bar when I come back. They showed me their steriliser for their nail tools. They ensure that all nail tools that are to be used are pre-sterlised.

I hang out for a while at Cynbolic Nail Bar, drinking my tea and indulged in some snacks that was offered to me. I browsed around their mini retail area and chatted with the owner and therapists. Besides their regular and gelish nail services, they also have nail spa. manicure & pedicure for kids under 10 years old, nail extension and nail art. They also provide waxing services, eyebrow trimming and henna art. The place looks great for a bachelorette party or girly-pampering birthday party.

I am so glad I got to visit Cynbolic Nail Bar. I would definitely come back again. I highly recommend it to people living in Johor Bahru and for those living in Singapore, planning a day trip to Johor or if staying a night of two in Johor. If you are coming to Johor to visit Legoland or Hello Kitty Town, I suggest you pre-book an appointment with Cynbolic Nail Bar as well. It would be a wonderful treat for you to visit Cynbolic Nail Bar .

BlogMeetSg x The Nail Social

Last week, I got to attend another #BlogMeetSg gathering. This time, it is held in one of my favourite salon, The Nail Social. Read my blog post on The Nail Social here.

The Nail Social is located in colourful quirky Haji Lane. The Nail Social offers an intimate luxurious treatment for their customer by treating them with a one-of-a -kind service by having a personal iPad preloaded with movies, magazines, games. It  goes far and beyond as a lifestyle salon because it is also a socially responsible establishment. This enterprise offers training & employment opportunities to single mothers & women from low-income households and empowering them to security & self-sufficiency. Adding to their advocacy to being socially friendly, their nail products used are organic, non-toxic and cruelty-free. Environmentally-conscious customers would feel not guilty and would be 100% assured they are not contributing any harm to the environment. and books.

It was nice to see Cheryl, the co-founder of The Nail Social, again, who was the one who greeted us as we entered the salon. We were given Coco Loco coconut water bottles and a pack prepared by Spotless Medical which contains a full sized Clarifying Cleanser for each of the bloggers.

We proceeded to the 2nd level of The Nail Social where there was a nice set up of the place. I first saw Lucy of Lulabelle Lifestyle, the lovely host and founder of BlogMeetSg, happily chatting with other bloggers. I was happy to see a lot of familiar faces at this BlogMeetSg.

The Nail Social gave each blogger a treat by choosing an Express Manicure or an Express Pedicure. I opted for a pedicure. We waited for  our turn to get our nails done. When it was our turn, I had my nails done along side Miss Chocoholic and Molly Mia.

I chose the fuchsia red nail polish color. And I love it!

We enjoyed some sweet nibbles from Moppy Pops. They were interesting and intricately-done cake pops. Cake pops are fun dessert foods for gatherings like BlogMeetSg. It is even a great topic to start a conversation with new acquaintances.

After we had our nails done, we went to another corner of The Nail Social to create our own Shophouse SixtyFive lip balms. Shophouse SixtyFive is an original Singaporean Bath and Body company. One of their popular products are their Beeswax Kopitiam Lip Balm. It was nice of Petrina, the founder of Shophouse SixtyFive to guide us in making our own lip balms.

I chose the Cheer Up Buttercup scent for the scent of my lip balm. I felt so happy I actually made my own lip balm that night. I like lip balms a lot.

That night, we were privileged to meet the charming and beautiful owner of Ayelli Argan Oil, Habiba. Here she is with the equally beautiful Lucy of Lulabelle Lifestyle.

Habiba approached our group and chatted us with like we were all long-lost friends. We can’t help but admire her luxurious curls. She even taught us some trick or two for gorgeous tresses. Though I don’t think we can ever achieve her beautiful curls. We asked her product, Ayelli Argan Oil. We learned so much about Argan oil  that night and she gave us tips how to spot a fake Argan oil. I will feature her soon in my Expat Diaries series. We also each got a bottle of Ayelli Argan oil to try.

Ayelli Argan Oil

It was great night for us, ladies, to be pampered with some mani or pedi, make lip balms, enjoy some refreshing drink & sweet cake pops and chatting about haircare , skincare and what-nots. It was very nice of Shutter Speed Photography to lend his talent to take wonderful pictures of the night.

Thank you Lulabelle Lifestyle to another lovely #BlogMeetSg gathering.

PRETTY GELISH NAILS FROM HOME NAILS

August 18, 2015 by Little Miss Honey 1,682 Comments

Gelish Nail

I learnt, from the Daniel Food Diary Workshop, “The Art of Food Blogging”, it helps to have lovely manicured nails holding up your food, so I was so excited to get my first ever gelish nails from Home Nails.

Home Nails is conveniently located a short walk away from Dhoby Ghaut MRT near The Cathay.

Home Nails was founded by Wang Huiqin in 2008, which was started from her home in Punggol. Founder Huiqin studied nail art design in Korea and has obtained her certifications in Korea too. Home Nails was voted as one of the best nail salons in Singapore by Honeycombers and cited as the “must visit salon” in Her World magazine September 2014 issue.

I love the look of the place. It is very country, homely and chic. It looks like a great place for girlfriends to hang out.

I had two very nice therapists who did my nails that day. They told me I would be getting the lace gelish design. I was really excited!

The therapists removed my cuticles using the dry method instead of soaking them to avoid growth of fungus. It is great that they do thorough research on nail treatment for the benefit of their clients. All therapists at Home Nails have at least 4 years of experiences and come from reputable nail academies.

I was very impressed with Home Nails! They were so meticulous in the way they did my gelish nail art. You can really tell that the therapists are very well trained. I couldn’t help but admire their handiwork. I am so loving the finished product. It is so me!

Gelish Nail

Lace, flowers and diamonds! It looks so elegant and feminine. I love it! A friend of mine who saw my nails asked if nail art or stickers were applied for the flowers. I said it was nail art. She was so impressed because the flowers and lace were so detailed. I was expecting that when I run my fingers over my nails, I would feel the rough diamonds, but they were smooth and the diamonds were placed securely behind the gelish coating.

I would normally mess up my nail polish a few minutes or hours after my manicure, but I am happy to say that this gelish nail polish is very sturdy, and is the answer to a clumsy girl’s manicure problems. It is still looking really good, 5 days after my manicure. And did I mention, it is safe for pregnant mommies too.

I showed off a bit of my nails in this blogger’s event that I recently went to, while holding a cupcake.

Home Nails has more than 1200 bottles of Gelish and OPI polish for clients to choose from. The more popular services are Gel Extension, 3D Nail Art, Gelish Nails and Bridal Nails.
