KOREA DAY TRIP 6: GANGNAM, HONGDAE

We plan to hang out for the day at Gangnam. Yes, hanging-out gangnam-style! But we were so hungry before lunch time that we decided to find somewhere to eat near Jonggak MRT Station. We choose to have pizza for brunch at Mr. Pizza.

We ordered the usual Hawaiian Pizza and we also got lasagna. While waiting for our order, we were given pickle slices with garlic dip. I was surprised it was quite yummy. Our order came just in time when I finished off the pickles. We enjoyed the pizza and lasagna a lot and satiated our hunger.

We were off to Gangnam. Gangnam is popularized by the Korean singer who sang Gangnam Style. Gangnam is known to be a district of the upper-class. They say it is the ‘Rodeo Drive’ of Seoul. Gangnam has several neighborhood. I chose that we visit the Garosugil neighborhood. Garosugil means “tree-lined streets” in Korean.

Garosugil is a beautiful street. We walked the streets and we went to a clothing shop where my hubby bought some shirts that were on sale. Garosugil also has a lot of cute cafes to go cafe-hopping. We opted to go inside the Line Friends Cafe and Store where Naj and Fynn can enjoy the Line Friends stuff toys.

The cafe was in the basement. We had milk chocolate, coffee, chocolate cake and cupcakes. It was extremely cold that day. We stayed in for a bit just hanging out there.

When it was getting darker, we headed to Hongdae where all the young cool kids hang out because it is in the university area. Hongdae MRT Station was really packed. We walked around a bit in Hondae, checking out shoes stores.

Hongdae at night is when street performers come out. Some do a rap performance, some have dance routines for the crowd. Even with the cold, there were still performing and people watch.

It was unbelievably cold that night. We hurriedly chose a bbq gril restaurant. Fynn was really in a foul mood and his nose & neck was red with cold burns. The waitresses and cashiers help us soothe Fynn and even offered to carry him. They gave us a blanket for him which they said we can keep.

We ordered a lot that night and the price wasn’t bad at all. Though I was struggling from eating because it was hard for me to pacify Fynn. Finally, he stopped crying and slept soundly.

When we went out of the restaurant, the cold wind was seeping in our clothes and it was so freaking cold. J checked and it was actually -12 degrees. We opted to take a cab back to hotel for a good night sleep.
