I GOT NAUGHTIFIED AT NAUGHTY NACHOS

Naughty Nachos

A few weeks ago, my family and I flew back to the Philippines. Instead of the direct flight to our hometown, Iloilo City, we took a flight to Manila to stay there for 2 nights.

We just had to visit my sister’s restaurant in Quezon City called the Naughty Nachos. I have heard a lot of people raving about it in social media. Nope, it didn’t come relatives but real true-blue customers who were just love their dishes. So I had to do a taste-test of my own, of course.

Naughty Nachos is perfectly located in Maginhawa Street in Quezon City where you find a wealth of university students, millennials and yuppies’ hang out and Naughty Nachos’ brand is right up the alley of what this demographic wants. It is found surrounded by several hip restaurants and mini-marts, them being the only restaurant that offers new version of nachos and marinated chicken wings. The interiors respond to the aesthetics of their typical customers: in-your-face big wall murals, lots of cool writings on the wall, funny-cartoonised nachos, simplistic long wooden table for groups and wide space for communal gathering on the second floor. Mind you, our niece did some of the black & doodles on the wall facing the stairs leading up to the 2nd floor. I also recognised the writings on chalk board to be of my sister’s. I saw lots of Jenga puzzle boxes and other board games by the side for customers to play with while waiting for their order. I think that is a cool idea!

So comes the food. I was on a vegetarian diet so I tried the Cheesy Beef Nachos (165 php) but I had to put the minced beef to sides for my hubby to eat. I was so in love with the cheese! It tasted creamy and authentic. It doesn’t taste like the regular preserved cheese you buy for nacho dips which taste plasticky. Their cheesy taste is so addicting plus the nachos itself has its own taste which you can actually eat even without any dips.

Naughty Nachos

I also tried the Mango Avocado Nachos (220 php) sans the avocado that day though because there was no avocados available for that day. Vegetarians would rejoice because this dish is purely vegetarian. This dish tasted like summer. It was so cooling and filled with so much flavor.

Naughty Nachos

My hubby was given their bestseller Spicy Sriracha Chicken Wings (199 php for 1/2 dozen & 395 php for 1 dozen) . If you love Korean marinated chicken bbq wings, their chicken wings which comes in other flavours: Sweet Soy Garlic and Classic Gravy besides Sriracha Wings, would answer your craving. My hubby had to eat two little casserole of rice due to these. By the way, the rice is placed in this cute little kaldero which reminds you of our home kaldero where we cook rice on stove or charcoal. I love that they took care of wonderful details like that and their dishes were placed in a nice long wooden plate that helps you when you need to take lovely photos for your food trip at Naught Nachos. They also provide plastic glove for customers if you want to eat using hands.

My sister made the Classic Vanilla MilkShake (155 php) herself for Naj which consist of vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and mango. Naj even assisted her as she created her yummy concoction. Of course, my sweet-tooth son enjoyed it a lot. We were also given an unlimited servings of their refreshing Japanese Red Iced Tea. They also have Naughty Milkshakes (185 php): Epic Smores, Better Than Snickers, Throwback Tsokolate and Cereal Killah.

Naughty Nachos have wonderful unlimited deals for people to try.

Naughty Nachos have wonderful unlimited deals for people to try. Unlimited Nachos, Unlimited Wings and lots more to choose from with affordable prices. Naughty Nachos

I want to congratulate my sister and her business partners in their wonderful food business. I highly recommend it, not just because it is my sister’s restaurant but I am really loving their food! THINGS THAT INSPIRED ME THIS WEEK

Things that inspired me this week

Things that inspired me this week

Happy Mothers’ Day to all mothers! Today is such a special day because we are giving honour to the mothers all in the world. I have never realised how special this day is until I become a mom of two. Motherhood is not easy. Ask any mom. But somehow all the hardship are all worth our while because it is done out of pure love. I was touched my husband gave me  a bouquet of flowers early yesterday for Mothers’ Day. I don’t want an award for all the sacrifices and hardship for taking care of our kids but it feels nice to be appreciated once and awhile. Plus receiving flowers makes me feel happy. You know what they say “Happy Mom=Happy Kids“.

Mothers' Day Flowers

This week, it was nice that I got to meet up with a colleague friend of mine who is now working in a different clinic. We were able to catch up with news of each other and have a pastel pedicures at this cute salon in Beach Road called Manicurious.

Manicurious

I am lucky to have the coolest and sweetest workmates. They arranged a Welcome-Back-After Maternity-Leave Dinner for me after work. I brought along Fynn so they can meet him too. We had a great time chatting, eating and taking turns in carrying Fynn.

We had the dinner at Royal’s Cafe. I tried their meesiam and it is the best meesiam I ever tasted. I am still dreaming about it. I love to bring my hubby and kids there soon. They have a corner for kids to play. They got  a long table near the window with lots of Lego.

Today, we went to Marche′ for Mothers’ Day dinner. I got a chocolate cake treat upon entering the restaurant. That is such a sweet gesture. We got a pizza, roasted pork, pasta, garlic bread, ice cream and chocolate fudge cake. Naj was so happy playing at the kid’s corner. Marche′ is one of the kid-friendly restaurants in Singapore.

NOLITA: A TASTE OF NEW YORK IN MANILA

April 11, 2013 by Little Miss Honey 1,626 Comments

A few weeks ago, I went home to the Philippines after 6 months of being in  Singapore, to do our prenup pictorial in Iloilo. But  before coming home to Iloilo, I made a one-night stop-over in Manila to be with my sister and also to shop for tuxedo with my fiancé. He needs his lady’s “expert” opinion. Ha!
My plane arrived late in Manila at around 11 PM. I was famished and craving for some carbs.
We headed to Bonifacio High Street to find any open restaurants for 4 hungry peeps: me, my fiancé, my sister and little bro.
We settled into Nolita. My sister has been there before a couple of times. When she was there, she had several celebrity sightings who also comes to Nolita for a taste of their pizzas.
Nolita borrows inspiration from New York by offering customer a taste of New York large slices of pizzas in white paper plates.
I was too famished to take  a picture of how the dark-wood themed, dark lit restaurant looks like.  But it was pretty cozy and not pretensious-looking. We ordered 3 types of pizza. My favourite one is the one with a sunny-side up egg on it. There is a signage that encourages us to use our hands when eating. Hehe, I was an eager beaver to comply. Prices of one slice of pizza ranges from P130 to P190.
My sister suggested that we order the onion rings that comes in a creamy white sauce. The onion rings I heard are dipped in beer, my sister said. Is that true? We aren’t going to get drunk eating these, right?
My fiancé wanted to order the honey-garlic wings. And it was a good call because it tasted divine. It reminds us a bit of Bonchon chicken without the rice. It was dripping in oil but we don’t mind at all, hehe…
We left Nolita so full with greasy hands but nonetheless, happy and had appeased our hunger pangs and carbo cravings. I will definitely go back for more at Nolitas.
