FOOD DISCOVERIES: FATCAT ICE CREAM BAR

July 9, 2015 by Little Miss Honey 1,097 Comments

Fat Cat Ice Cream Bar

In the heart of the Bedok HDB area, you will discover a gem of a place that will satisfy your need for waffles and ice cream.

FatCat Ice Cream Bar is a wonderful addition to the Bedok community which just opened last 1st January 2015. Considering this is an ice cream bar, I guess that explains why it called FatCat, hehe. I am still looking for any cat roaming around the place. But no sign of any cat. But I do like their tagline: Made from Scratch. Get it. Scratch. Scratch by a Cat.

The place is quirky and give off a very cool vibe which would attract the younger generation crowd, the hipsters and the yuppies. The place however is really small and you have to queue sometimes to get a table.

You get to choose from a variety of flavours. I believe they have 18 flavours. You can choose between the Standard or the Premium flavours or if you want to be adventurous, you can try the Mysterious Flavour where FatCat will choose for you. Allow them to surprise your tastebuds.

 Ice Cream Bar

There are two waffles to choose from. You can get the Gourmet Waffles ($6.00) or the Original Waffles($5.00). You can add in scoops of ice cream on top (Standard $3.9 – single scoop ; Premium $4.5-single scoop).

Gourmet Waffles with Butter Beer Ice Cream with Caramel Syrup and Salted Egg Sauce

This charcoal-colored waffles is thick and crisp. I would be very happy if there was more of the caramel syrup. There is no maple syrup in sight. The salted egg sauce ($1.00), for me, with the waffles is a bit weird taste combination. So I just had my waffles without the salted egg sauce. It was my first time to the butterbeer ice cream. It tasted like beer. Beer-drinkers would love this but unfortunately, I don’t like the taste of beer.

Fat Cat Ice Cream Bar  Original Waffles with Chocolate Syrup and Cheesecake Ice Cream

I prefer this than the gourmet waffles. It was crisp as well.  I love the chocolate syrup though I still want maple syrup with my waffles & pancakes. I like the cheesecake ice cream that I chose.

Fat Cat Ice Cream Bar

  Ice Mocha Cafe ($4.50)

This coffee is a bit too weak for me. I guess I felt there are more ice and milk in it.

Fat Cat Ice Cream Bar

Iced Sweet Potato Latte ($7.50)

This is a very interesting drink. I like it! It is very refreshing and sweet. I can feel the fiber-richness of this drink.

I would love to come back here and try their mojito spheres and other flavours of the ice cream. Do visit if you are around the neighbourhood.

JBL, HARMAN KARDON & AKG : AUDIO BRANDS THAT FIT EVERY LIFESTYLE

July 2, 2015 by Little Miss Honey 777 Comments

AKG

” The  only good system is a sound system“

The two important men in my life are audiophiles. My father and my husband. They both love music. But not only plain music. They want their music resonating in crisp, clear and loud sound.  Better sound, perfect music.

Audiophile: n. noun: a person who is enthusiastic about hi-fidelity sound production.

JBL Singapore

I grew up with my dad who have his sound system carefully enclosed in a class cabinet with big speakers on each sides. Every morning, I would see him wiping his sound system and speakers with a special fluid only for his sound equipments. I grew up knowing the names of audio brands. When I got married, I saw the same affinity to perfect sound & music in my husband that I see in my father. I came to realize  that in order to appreciate better music, you must never compromise the quality of the sound.

Last week, I was one of the lucky bloggers who was invited to attend the event organised by IMS Marketing and Originally Us that featured topnotch lifestyle audio products by Harman  International Industries. Harman is responsible for the perfect sound quality of the vehicle audio in 4 out 5 luxury cars. Harman is also endorsed by bestselling music artists like Maroon 5, Quincy Jones and Linkin Park. And Harman provides the excellent audio experience in venues like Radio City Hall, the place where America’s Got Talent  is being held.

We gotten up close and personal with brands like JBL, Harman Kardon and AKG brands, all of which are part of Harman International Industries that night. Harman is no doubt a leader in innovation, creative mastery and delivers concise product visualisation, which are elements to a successful outcome. Each brands speaks for everyone and each brands fits every lifestyle. I was mesmerised on how a beautiful sound can capture a kaleidoscope of wonderful feelings. I was in awed by the things I learned that night.

Let me share you more about the three brands that we gotten to know more… ummm.. intimately…

JBL

JBL

JBL is all about Passion. It is perfect for the busy bees. Those people who needs planned spontaneity and masters of multitasking. They are friendly, expressive and unique. JBL products have a wide variety of colors and sizes with high functionality.

There is the Clip+ (SGD 99.00) that comes in different vibrant color which you can clip in your office bag or gym bag or a wall hook in your home. Here it is showed to us  by Andy Tsui, Director of Product Planning & Strategy of Harman Lifestyle Home & Multimedia.

CLIP +

Together with the Clip+ here is the Flip 3 (SGD179.00) in various colors. They are portable bluetooth speakers. These are great to bring everywhere. Rain or shine! When rain drips into your Flip 3, you will see the water dance on its flat surface. Andy showed us in his presentation. I was in awe of the sight, I didn’t managed to get a decent picture. (Insert: sad face)

JBL

There is also the Charge 2+ (SGD279.00) for those  who wants their sound  wireless and endless. So the charging power of this baby is  undeniably powerful.

JBL

If you want beautiful sound plus beautiful visuals, Pulse II (SGD 329.00) is for you. It is portable and wireless and provides a programmable LED light show that is not only pleasing to hears but to the sight as well.

JBL Pulse II

But if you are more of  the big stuff and want things large and loud, its got to be the Xtreme (SGD439.00). It is big but not monstrously big. It even have straps if you want to carry it like a bag.

JBL

HARMAN KARDON

Harman/Kardon represents Grace. Judging from its sleek lines, premium materials, minimalistic but beautiful silhouette, it spells grace, class and sophistication. It is gives you the sound that you would like to surrender to. People  that would be   perfect fit for Harman Kardon are like those  successful couples  who are content and focused in their family lives and those who value quality over quantity.

Harman Kardon

This one that I am holding is an Esquire Mini (SGD269.00).  It is bluetooth-enabled, portable for the professional on the-go. It also doubles a conference phone system with built-in  echo  & noise cancellation technology and dual-microphone. It has an 8-hour rechargeable battery and has USB access. I love that it looks so lovely. It can pass off as my evening night clutch.

Harman Kardon have other awesome products that were exhibited in the showroom. They look so pristine and oh so classy.

Harman Kardon

AKG

AKG speaks for the Creative Spirit. They are perfect for the Y-Series., the 20-30 years old artists, designers and musicians. They are fun. They are funky. They break barriers and allow their imagination & creativity to go wild. They are different and they are not afraid to stand out.

I was privileged to try the state-of-art AKG N90Q (SGD 2199.00 incl. 7% GST) Golden Headphones – Headphones that listens to your ears. It was inspired by the Grammy award-winning producer Quincy Jones. It utilised the TruNote audio calibration and active voice cancelling technologies with dual foam cushions and ear cup mounted controls. You will have full control of adjustment sound  signature. It is simply one of the most accurate sounding headphones in the world.

It was truly a wonderful experience to try the AKG N90Q Headphones. It is definitely a dream headphones for music lovers.

We also gotten acquainted with other AKG products in the showroom where were just so cool. My younger brother and niece would be dying to get their hands on those babies.

AKG

The Harman brands impressed me with their focused dedication to provide the finest, innovative, functional and visually attractive audio products to audio lovers and coverts hesitant bystanders to a deeper appreciation to beautiful sounds. After years of communing with audiophiles, it took me one night  with JBL Harman Kardon and AKG, and I, Little Miss Honey, is officially an audiophile. Bring on the music!

TOURIST GUIDE: TRICK EYE MUSEUM

June 22, 2015 by Little Miss Honey 1,623 Comments

On the day we went to the S.E.A. Aquarium, we also went to the Trick Eye Musuem. I got free tickets to the museum after winning the blogging challenge at Chinatown Food Street Blogger Event.

Trick Eye Museum

Trick Eye Museum is a unique museum with 2D paintings turning them into 3D images through optical illusions when pictures are taken through a certain angle. This type of art technique is called Trompe-l’oeil  which means  deceive the eye in French.

It was a weekend when we went there and there was a bit of queue. The place is not really a large so they need to regulate the crowd.

Once we were in, we happily played around the musuem.

Look at my prankster husband…

Scream

I am starting to get a little jealous with the woman my hubby is dancing with. Hmp!

This guy is strong!

I am so happy to be here with my family.

I was able to use some of my ballet techniques here, hehe….

I got to do some yoga postures on the wall too. Cool, right?

Trick Eye Museum

So here are some tips if you are going to the Trick Eye Museum:

1. Go on a weekday to avoid the heavy crowd.

2. Go with a partner. (Or else no one will take your picture for you)

3. Bring your camera or at least a good camera phone. (Duh! This is a given but just to make sure you don’t forget this.)

4. Wear comfortable clothes. For women, don’t wear skirts or wear short shorts. You will be doing some poses and those type of clothing can be unflattering in certain angle.

5. Bring your sense of humor. You will be posing, doing wacky stuff and will be doing a bit of acting in front of strangers  who are waiting for you to be done. If you will be self-conscious about it, you will not have fun in the museum.

6. Follow the instructions in each mural before taking picture. There are stand points where you should take a better picture. It helps a lot in how the picture turns out.

7. Be courteous. Don’t jump into the mural/painting when you see that there is still someone taking their picture or they have waited before you.

8. Have fun!
