GOODBYE 2016, HELLO 2017

January 2, 2017 by Little Miss Honey 1,210 Comments

2017

Many dubbed 2016 to be a bad year. Crimes, election results, senseless deaths, financial crisis, illness, passing away of beloved celebrities, etc.  I never thought my 2016 was bad because it was overshadowed by a lot of good things and wonderful blessings from God. But looking closer, yes, there were bad moments of 2016. Horrible illnesses have crept in into my family, leaving us in worry and anxiety. I was in a state of turmoil but I cling to God in prayers and He had heard me, He has heard us. So I hugged my parents even more tightly, vowing to take better care of them.

2016, 2017

But let us not dwell of the dark stuff rather look into the highlights of my 2016 because there were great moments too. Here are the highlights of last year:

1. Husband’s Simple but Wonderful Birthday Celebration

orto

This might be a simple dinner with family but I want to include it in my list. It was just great being out with my family on my hubby’s birthday at a nice beautiful restaurant. We had a wonderful bbq celebration at Orto. That time, I was 7 months pregnant with Fynn. I was happy my hubby enjoyed his day but I think this year would top that.

2. Spending quality time with my parents

When I went home to Iloilo for my maternity leave, I get to spend time with my parents who used to be working in Saudi Arabia. It was nice that there are with me during my 2nd pregnancy. It was so sweet of them for taking good care of me. I love having late night talks with mama and having afternoon bananacue snacks with papa. On my dad’s birthday, I bought his a Collezione shirts which feels kind of surreal because my mom used to buy him 1 Collezione shirt every pay. So it feels a bit symbolic.

3.  Arrival of Fynn!

secondborn

Ohh what a joy a child brings! I can’t believe I am a mom of two already, haha. I was admittedly a bit scared the night before my scheduled caesarean section. But it turned out perfectly uneventful. Fynn is such a delight to take care of . He wasnt a fussy baby at all. He was a jolly, happy baby who is also always hungry which is so cute, haha… I admire his happy disposition which his dimple on his right cheek showing.

4. Les Miserables (Bucket list!)

Les Miserables

I am so blessed that I was able to watched the musical play, Les Miserables. It was phenomenal. I was glad I got to watch it with my hubby. It would have been more perfect if it was Rachelle Anne Go who played Fantine on that show. I still have several plays I would love to watch someday.

5. Legoland Malaysia

Legoland Malaysia

We had Naj’s birthday at Legoland Malaysia. It was a fun trip and we all love the Legoland Hotel a lot. We made a right decision to get a personal transportation for our trip. It took out the hassle of the trip, we allowed us to just enjoyed it. We plan to visit Legoland again maybe when the kids are a bit bigger.

6. New Opportunities, New Adventure

My 2016 started with a bit of uncertainty but for some weird reasons, I wasn’t frazzled. I just trusted that things will work out eventually and it did. I thought I might be leaving Singapore this year probably to return to Iloilo or maybe go to another country but it looks like I will be staying for  a little while longer. But I have ended my job this year as a doctor here in Singapore to another job in the same company so it still has to do with healthcare. It is a bit unnerving to try something I have never done before but I am up for the challenge, for the new adventure. It is a plus that I have wonderful new bosses. It looks like I am lucky with my bosses because previous one was equally nice too.

7. Fynn’s baptism

Fynn's Baptism

I am happy that Fynn is now part of the Catholic community. We had his baptism in Iloilo. I was so happy with planning his baptism. It went so well, I am satisfied with all the suppliers I got for his baptism. But the most important part is that we got to celebrate this important moment in his life with our family.

8. Bintan Birthday Weekend

Bintan

I had the most relaxing birthday. I got to spend it at Bintan Lagoon Resort with my family. It was just a weekend of chill and bonding with my family. I realised travel birthdays are the best. So it looks like it is becoming a tradition now in our family (well, if budget permits anyways, hehe).

I am grateful for 2016 even if it got its not-so-good moments. But I have an inkling that 2017 will be a fun one, challenging but fun. I always have a Word for the Year. Last  year was about Changes. This year, my word is…. Consistency. I know that is something I need to work on in all aspect of my life. Consistency…..

2017

Cheers to 2017! I welcome you 2017! Let us make this year, a stable and resilient year. We are strong and empowered. We will shine even brighter this year. Stay positive everyone!

A NIGHT OF LES MISERABLES

September 12, 2016 by Little Miss Honey 879 Comments

Les Miserables

I have always loved Musicals. I grew up with my mom, introducing me & my siblings to The Orphan Annie, Sound of Music, The King & I, etc.  I grew up in the time when Lea Salonga was chosen as the lead role of Kim in the Broadway Musical, Miss Saigon. Every little girl like me wants to be like her when they grow up. I knew all the songs in that play. Lea Salonga was my ultimate idol! If I wasn’t going to be  doctor, I wanted to be a Broadway performer. In school, I got lead  roles in plays and solos in concerts. I am just in love with musical plays and their songs. I longed to watched a musical play  ever since. I eventually did get to watch my first Broadway show 3 years ago with my sister. I also wanted to bring J to a musical play too. I want to share with him the magical experience of attending a Broadway musical. It is like introducing my first love to my last love. J is also a stage performer himself so he is familiar of what happens during and behind the shows. He used to be a recognised cultural dancer in his college. He even got an award for his contribution of his talent when he graduated (proud wife, right here.) So, on one of our date night, I though it would be nice to add in a night of Broadway Musical after our dinner. After our Italian dinner at Supply & Demand, we went to Esplanade Theater with our tickets on our hands to watch Les Miserables.

Les Miserables

It is crucial not be late in watching plays because you can only come in the theater in a particular time or else you will disturb the performers if you go in & out. So make sure you take care of business before entering the theatre. Also don’t forget to turn off your phones. We were lucky that we secured great seats for the show, We were so near, we can see them sweat and spit (yes, we saw that too!).

Les Miserables

Les Miserables

I was disappointed to know that Rachelle Ann Go is not part of the play but either ways, the show was amazing and the cast was superb.

Les Miserables

The actor, Simon Gleeson who played the lead role of Jean Valjean gave a very stellar performance. He gave a convincing portrayal of the hero of the play. The role of Fantine which was also played by Pinay singer, Rachelle Ann Go, was played by the angelic Patrice Tipoki. Her rendition of the I Dream A Dream was heart-wrenching. My favorites were the funny Thenardier and Madame Thenardier. I also love the actors who played Jean Valjean’s archenemy, Javert and the hopeless in-love, Eponine. Kerrie Anne Greenland who played Eponine gave a beautiful effortless rendition of the all-time favorite, On My Own.  I was not really into the actors who played Cosette and Marius.

During the recess of the play, we got to go out and shake our legs. We saw the beautiful costumes of the performers displayed outside. My hubby got to enjoy a beer.

We got back to finish the rest of the spectacular play. The production designs were ingenious and costumes designs were lovely.

Les Miserables

It was a beautiful night to remember of stories of success,  perseverance & forgiveness and songs of different types of love- unrequited love, romantic love, of friends, of father & daughter, of mother & daughter, of country.

THINGS THAT INSPIRED ME THIS WEEK

July 10, 2016 by Little Miss Honey 2,413 Comments

Les Miserables

Les Miserables

Bucket list checked! I was able to catched the Les Miserables musical play this week with my hubby. This is the 2nd musical play I got to watch. I was able to watched The Phantom of the Opera with my sister a few years ago. I was so excited to see this play because it is one of my favourites. Too bad, the actress playing Fantine isn’t our very own Rachelle Ann Go but Patrice Tipoki was great in it too.

Les Miserables

Before the show, hubby and I had dinner at Supply and Demand. That night served as our monthly date nights. Like they say, marriage first. It helps in keeping the family life happy.

Date Night

Les Miserables was amazing! We got great seats and the production was spectacular. I’ll share about it very soon.

Les Miserables

This week, Fynn turned 4 months! He is way advanced in this developmental milestones even his paediatrician is impressed. He is rolling over and even trying to crawl. He is cooing and responding quite fast with people with a ready social smile and babble.

4 months old

Of course, there is the monthly cake to celebrate that isn’t too friendly to my waistline but what the heck, hehe, my son just turned 4-months!

Here are a round-up of links I found online that inspired me this week:

A good read for new moms: The Fourth Trimester – Why Newborns Hate Being Put Down

How to keep your marriage from going stale

Lots of things going on next week, so excited!
