FOOD DISCOVERIES: SLAPPY CAKES (SINGAPORE)

June 2, 2015 by Little Miss Honey 1,798 Comments

Slappy Cakes

My husband loves pancakes even if my gluten-sensitive bloated tummy would object. So my distended abdomen have to go along with husband’s carb cravings (which I secretly enjoy despite bloated stomach and all).

One hot day, we decided to head to Resort World Sentosa for a day at the S.E.A Aquarium  and Trick Eye Museum to tour my niece who came to visit us for a few weeks here in Singapore. For lunch, we picked Slappy Cakes and ignored my gluten-sensitivity one more time.

The place looks very child-friendly. I can’t wait for Naj to try this when he gets a bit older.

What is special about this place is that you get to enjoy making and cooking your own pancakes. I think that is such a cute idea.

First, you choose your batter. You can have Buttermilk, Whole Grain, Peanut Butter , Chocolate or Zucchini. It comes in an 8.5 oz squeeze bottle ($8.5 per bottle). We got the Buttermilk.

Then you pick some fixings. You can choose from the Sweet like blueberries, raspberries, chocolate chips, strawberries, etc. or Savory like cheese, pork sausages, bacon, etc.

Then you choose the toppings. You can have 100% maple syrup, chocolate hazelnut spread, homemade kaya spread, Greek yogurt, etc.

So let’s get cooking!

Remember to spread a bit of butter first. Then squeeze on the amount of batter you prefer.

Add fixings. We got some pork sausages.

We enjoyed it too much. We got another batter even if one batter was good enough for the 3 of us. (Naj was happy with milk so no pancakes for him.) This time, we chose the Peanut Butter.

For toppings, we got 100% maple syrup and raspberry jam.

Three pancakes coming up….

My hubby was the official cook. He did such a great job with our pancakes.

We also got some pasta which is equally yummy for some variety.

I think Slappy Cakes is a great place for kids and kids-at -heart. The pancakes batter they offer are good, not runny and not too thick. It is such a fun place for family and friends to come together to make and enjoy real good pancakes. Even my bloated tummy would agree that the pancakes were good. My tummy gave out a gurgling sound of agreement. It is the only restaurant where you are encouraged to play with your food.
