DATE NIGHT AT PASTA BRAVA

January 30, 2017 by Little Miss Honey 47 Comments

Pasta Brava

From time to time, my hubby and I try to make time for a date night. Since we are a parent of two young kids and living in Singapore which is known for having a high cost of living, my hubby made a little research on affordable romantic restaurants. He sent me a lists of those and I complied it my trusty Evernote. My obssesive-compulsive trait decided to go through the lists in a chronological order. The first one up is Pasta Brava.

It was wasn’t hard to  find Pasta Brava. It is found in the Craig Road, a walking distance from Tanjong Pagar MRT. Pasta Brava is owned by a former hotelier, Rolando Luceri, who started operations of the quaint Italian restaurant in 1993.

Entering the two-storey restaurant, you feel like you are suddenly in Italy which the whole place charmingly resembles a charming old restaurant inn, with dark woods, dim lights, big paintings on the wall and a lot of maroon motif all over. I love the nice touch of having white paper table linens for those dining to write on whatever they want with colored chalks.

We were offered a bread basket while checking on the menu.

Hubby got the classics Fettuccine Alla Carbonara ($23.00) which contains bacon, onions, egg yolk, white wine and creamy sauce. It didn’t disappoint with its taste and perfect aldente texture of the fettuccine. Though the portions are too small for its price.

My husband got a beer to pair it with his pasta.

Since I was on my vegetarian phase which comes and going in waves, I got the Sformato Di Melanzane Alla Parmigiana ($17.00). This is actually an appetite but it was filling enough for me. This is made of oven-glazed eggplant. My favorite vegetable! It is coated by tomato sauce, parmesan and mozzarella. I am surprisingly delighted with my choice.

We end out night with a sweet note by having the most delicious Chocolate Lava Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream. It was absolute perfection with its warm yummy fudge oozing out of it moist chocolate cocoon and eated together with the cold vanilla-licious ice cream.

It was a great night for us. Do you any other suggestions for affordable date night places we should try? Do comment below.

FOOD DISCOVERIES: SUPPLY & DEMAND

September 2, 2016 by Little Miss Honey 55 Comments

Being married for three years, my husband and I would often see each other in our home clothes, messy hair and my face devoid of makeup enhancements (believe me that is not a pretty sight, hehe). It is nice from time to time to dress up nicely for each other like just the early days of courtship when we dress to impress each other. Hmmmm……

For our date night a few months ago, we planned to watch  a musical play (I’ll blog about this very soon) and have an early dinner nearby. I did some research on the affordable restaurants nearby Esplanade Theater. I picked Supply & Demand because my husband would love some pasta and pizza plus it looks like the prices aren’t very steep.

Supply & Demand

My husband and I were apparently late for our reservations so they have to give up our table at the rooftop bar. But we didn’t mind because the ambiance in the first level was very nice. It has a dim exteriors with dark wooden decors, nice metal hanging lamps and a tree inside the restaurant. The place was packed on a weekday.

Supply & Demand

We got the 9 inch pizza ($18.00). If we are famished, we could have gotten the 13 inch pizza ($22.00). I ordered the Morning After which has bacon, mushroom, mozzarella, onion, tomato sauce and a soft egg center. I love pizza with soft eggs and this was no exception. The pizza has an ardent crust which I like. It is a little bit dry but still yummy nonetheless.

Supply & Demand

We think pizza and pasta are a perfect pair so hubby ordered the Pasta Alfredo ($17.00). It filled our bellies with its creamy goodness with sprinkles of chicken chunks and green peas.

Supply & Demand

We were choosing between the Truffle Fries or the Cheesy Fries. The nice waiter said he prefers the Cheesy Fries. I wasn’t into the dip but I love the melted parmesan cheese and the chorizo slices. I just make sure I don’t bite on the jalapeno.

Supply & Demand

Hubby got an Albens Original Apple Cider to try. I was never into beers or ciders so I didn’t try to take a sip.

Supply & Demand

Supply & Demand is a great place for date nights and a cool hang out place for friends who wants to enjoy a casual pizza & pasta night.
