MY 5 FAVORITE “LET IT GO” SONG VERSIONS

February 21, 2014 by Little Miss Honey 936 Comments

Disney’s newest animated film “Frozen” is such a hit! It is a heartwarming story about sisters, real love, friendships and being true to own’s self. It featured the voices of Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel and Josh Gad. And one evidence of how big this lovely film has become is how the song from the movie “Let it Go” became so popular you hear it blaring everywhere and so many artists & you-tubers have created covers for it. I am not a person who sings in the shower but I find myself singing this song while showering.

I love the original version sang by the amazing Broadway legend Idina Menzel who is known for her roles in Wicked & Rent and also the ex-wife of hunky Tye Diggs. Her lending her voice to Queen Elsa in Frozen was just purely perfection. I can’t wait for her to sing the song at the Oscars this coming March.

Here is the beautiful song:

People couldn’t help but put a personal spin on this song. There are so many amazing versions of this song, here is my favourites:

1. ALEX BOYE (AFRICANIZED VERSION) FEATURING LEXI WALKER & ONE VOICE CHILDREN’S CHOIR

This is Alex Boye’s idea. He is a British Mormon singer and actor born to Nigerian parents. He love the idea of doing an Africanized  version of the song and teamed up with his friend  Masa Fuduka who directs the One Voice Childrens’  and the talented 11 year old Lexi Walker. The music video is spine-tingling. But for me the star of the video was Lexi Walker. She is a dynamite! Amazing and powerful voice coming from an 11 years old. She captured the essence of the young Elsa the Snow Queen.

2. CALEB HYLES (MALE VERSION)

I like all types of music except for heavy metal. So I am surprised that I truly enjoyed listening to this rendition by a lead singer from a heavy/trash metal band, From The Dark. Caleb Hyles sang the song with so much raw emotion that I got pulled in. I was clapping my hands in appreciation after watching the video (with my hubby looking at me weirdly at me for being such a dork, hehe).

3. MADDIE & ZOE (ADORABLE VERSION)

This might not be a perfect rendition of the song but these two 4 year old twins are just adorable. You can tell that they might have been watching the movie a thousand times, hehe. They might not know how to pronounce some of the words and might be yawning while singing but they are just undeniably cute. The movie, Frozen, is about sisters and innocence and these two cuties exemplify what the movie represents.

4. SAM TSUI (LET IT GO/LET HER GO MASH-UP VERSION)

This young man is one of the popular you tubers  of today who is known for his cool mash-ups. He successfully mashed-up the song “Let It Go” with the song “Let Her Go” by the British singer-songwriter Passenger and exhibited his wonderful talent on the piano. Because of this cover, he made me a fan of Passenger too, hehe..

5. CHRISTINA BIANCO (FUNNY VERSIONS)

I saw this unique and funny lady in one of Ellen Degeneres show. I think she is hilarious and very talented. I would love to see her perform live. She is so gifted. But for me, her impersonation of Kristen Chenoweth is the best.

How are about you? What are your favourite “Let It Go ” covers? Do share in the comment below. If you have your own cover of this song, do share below the comment box.

For those who wasn’t able to watch the movie, “Frozen”, do watch. It is perfect for kids and kids at heart. And you will definitely seek out someone worth melting for… I know I have…
