I have a friend who just recently gotten a job in Singapore and it is her first time to being living away from her family. After a few months has set in, trying to adjust being away from her family, the new work environment and experiencing the challenges of an expat life, she has been very down lately. On top of it, she has been missing her boyfriend back home. I told her that she will eventually get used to her new life. It just takes a bit of time. I wanted to cheer her up plus her birthday was coming soon. I know my friend is a bit of minimalist and she own a considerable amount of good quality stuff, it was hard for me to think of a good cheer-up gift for her.

So, I was so happy to learn about Floral Garage, 2-year-old floral and gifts company that have an amazing selection of products from beautiful bouquets, gift hampers and even party supplies. I learned that they are a team of passionate floral hobbyist turned professional florists; and their mission is to provide quality and affordable flowers so the meanings of love, care, appreciation and gratitude can be conveyed. So this is exactly what my friend needs.

I browsed around their user-friendly website to find the perfect cheer-me-up gesture for my friends. To shop, it is subdivided into Flowers, Flower Stand, Hampers and Party Supplies. I initially thought of of getting a flower bouquet for her. I saw that their signature bouquets are the Freestyle bouquet, the Premium Freestyle and the Vegetable bouquet. Then I saw the lovely cute gift hamper which think would be perfect for her: a combination of arranged flowers with chocolates & chocolate biscuits for a sweet tooth like her.

I got the HAPPY BIRTHDAY GIFT HAMPER ($130.00-159.90). It contains beautifully arranged flowers, Toblerone Milk Bundle in 3, Ferrero Rocher T24, a cute teddy bear, Glico Pocky -Chocolate and Glico Pocky-Strawberry. If I wished it to be placed in a pinata, I can do so by adding $29.90 (U.P.$39.90). But I opted to just have the cute basket for my friend.

Floral Garage also have several types of hampers:

• I Love You Anniversary Gift Hamper

• Get Well Soon Gift Hamper

• Gourmet Corporate Gift Hamper

•Fruit Hamper

•Teachers’ Appreciation Gift Hamper

and many more.

I am happy to know they do same-day delivery, where they provide last-minute delivery service. This is especially helpful for husbands or boyfriends who last-minute remembers that it is actually their anniversary or their wives or girlfriends’ birthday.

I had the hamper delivered to my friend’s place and she called me instantly when she got it. She told me how she appreciated my concern & support and I know her too well that these are stuff would definitely make her smile. She placed the flowers in her dining area to give her place a homey cheerful vibe. She been slowly eating the chocolates as dessert after dinner and yes, the serotonin in the chocolates gave her a boost from her gloomy state. And she had the cute bear which she calls Lockey to cuddle at night. I am happy to report that I checked in with her lately and she has been doing much better. She has slowly adjusted to her new life and starting to get along well her new colleagues.

Thank you Floral Garage for delivering sunshine and the needed pick-me-up for my friend!

THINGS THAT INSPIRED ME THIS WEEK

Things that inspired me this week

Things that inspired me this week

This week was filled with wonderful blessings and deep realisations. This week, I was invited to attended a fun blogger event at Wihardja Furniture Showroom. I was happy I was able to bring along my hubby. We enjoyed a sumptuous Indonesian buffet and we get to shop around the showroom. We went home with several stuff for our place.

This week, I also featured expat Elena, a beautiful photographer who founded Pixelena Studio in my blog for the Expat Diaries. Read her story here. Check out her dreamy and whimsical photos.

Also, this week, I had my monthly get-together with fellow Filipina doctors working in the same company as me but different branches. It is such a great comfort to have support systems and friends if you are living and working abroad. It makes you feel that you have people to run to when the going gets tough, people with open ears to hear you complain, people who offer you encouraging advices and people who help you improve. I have several support systems of “gangs” in Singapore that gave me so much joy and comfort. Though we don’t often see each other but we always keep in touch.

Today is my bestfriend’s birthday. We have been since Grade 1 . We have experienced life’s up and down from medical school struggles, triumphs, heartaches & now having a happy family life and we are still best of friends. We often try to keep contact even how busy we are. I don’t know how we managed to be friends until now but one thing I know is that when my kids grow up, I will teach them the importance of having friends, in keeping friends and choosing the right friends.

Also today is All Saints’ Day. Back in the Philippines, it is a public holiday. We celebrate it by going to the cemetery and pay respect to our departed loved-ones in the Philippines It is also a holy day of obligation. I went to mass today and I was inspired by the homily of the priest. He said, we need saints in the 21th century. A saint who watch movies. A saint who surf the internet. A saint who drinks coke and eat hotdog. A saint who drinks beer with friends. A person who can still praise God during the modern times and not doesn’t often our God. How great is this calling. We don’t need to be uncool, boring or detached to be saints. We can still please God doing ordinary things just like St. Josemaria Escriva is preaching.

Here are a round-up of links I found online that inspired me this week:

2015 will soon be over. I want to buy a 2016 planner!
