I remembered when I learned I will be leaving my work and life in Singapore 3 years ago, one of my good Singaporean friend who is also blogger is asking me why I am leaving Singapore to work & live in Oman. She was hoping I would still change my mind. She did a few research about Oman. When she realised that I would change my mind, she said that she saw this wonderful structure in the internet about Oman. It was the Bimmah Sinkhole. She said I should visit it when I am there. I promised her that I will definitely will.

There was a week when my colleagues all got three days off. During that three days off, hubby and I decided to check out the Bimmah Sinkhole. It is located the north east coast of Muscat Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman, in the Dabab area of Wilayat Qurayyat. It is found inside Hawiyat Najm Park. The local municipality created the fenced and toilet-equipped children’s park around the Bimmah Sinkhole along with a stairway leading down to the hole to preserve this wonderful natural structure.
Bimmah Sinkhole is a water-filled natural depression that people often come to wade in water, swim and take photos. When we arrived the place that hot day, we were thee first ones there. Often the place are packed with lots of people, we were told. We swam in the cool waters for an hour or two. The two elder kids were having much fun while our youngest were a bit scared at first but eventually joined us in the water. The water do have a lot of moss, thus it gives it greenish blue colour. There were also little fishes swimming around tickling our feet. There were more people coming so we decided to avoid the crowd and check out other nearby beaches.

There were few more beaches around Quriyat. We explore some of the beaches and the last beach we found, we let the kids swim and play again to their utmost delight.

We know there are more wonderful places to explore here in Oman and we can’t wait to see them. Any recommendations?
