Wow, January has gone by so fast. New Year was a month ago and Chinese New Year just finished too. I was too busy being pregnant and with our recent trip back to the Philippines and endless dinner cooking (yes, I been such a whiz in the kitchen) that I have forgotten to blog. Sorry guys!
Though it is already February but since Chinese New Year was just a few days ago, I decided to post my New Year Resolutions as way to motivate myself this 2014.
1. STOP PROCRASTINATION
I guess I better start with this. Not updating my blog, not studying, not doing my exercises, etc etc are signs of this horrible habit : Mañana Habit! So putting an end to this vicious cycle, I decided to start here and stop delaying & procrastinating. Time is valuable and we are wasting a lot of precious time by procrastinating.
2. BE THE BEST VERSION OF ME
2014 without a doubt would be a year full of big changes. It is an exciting and scary thought that I will be responsible for another person’s life and well-being. Being a mommy is the toughest job most people would say. It take the best version of yourself to tackle this hug responsibility. I hope to raised a loved and happy child together with my awesome husband. The best way to do to do so is to be the best version of myself. We all got it in ourselves – the good and the bad side. So let us acknowledge and tame our dark energies and accentuate & develop our potentials & amazing-ness. For a child to feel loved, you must first know how to love yourself . And while my little bun is cozy inside my protruding belly, I get to channel all the loving and ‘try’ to be the best wife my husband dreamed of (hahaha! I hope I am doing a good job by feeding him my wonderful culinary creations drizzled with some hugs & kisses after). Not to mention being a good daughter to my parents, good sister to my siblings, good friend, a pleasant coworker and a kind inhibitor in this planet.
3. WISE-SPENDER & MEGA-SAVER
Time to get practical. Yes, my hubby and I are almost into our one year as a married couple and now soon with bouncy baby to complete a merry trio, its time to get serious— about saving. My mama taught me that, “Its not in the amount of money you earn but the amount of money you saved“. My mom is such a wise mama. She is right. So being the treasurer of this team of two ( soon to be three), I devised a budget plan with my hubby overseeing, that would allow us to pay off all our debts (almost there.. yes those pesky tempting plastics called credit cards!), save for our immediate needs & future goals and to have a bit of comfort & luxuries in between. It also means updating our SSS, Pag-ibig and Philhealth. Another avenue for saving is thinking of retirement fund. That is where Sunlife Financial comes in.
4. CONSISTENCY
I’ll let you in a little secret. I am quitter. I will quit at anything that is hard or unpleasant. I was just lucky that I am surrounded by supportive loved-ones who were able to push me to the finish line even if it means dragging me from my feet. My mother, my ultimate cheerleader, knows this little weakness of mine so she guided me, pushed me and helped me make my goals become a reality. My hubby is another dependable rock in my life. He always hold on with his feet cemented strongly to the ground to make our relationship work and a steady navigator to our goals & dreams.
5. STUDY, STUDY, STUDY
After more than 10 years of studying, I thought I will be done studying medical-related stuff but I was so wrong. Being a doctor is life-long dedication to studying and I have to accept that. My company had graciously enrolled me to take a course for a Graduate in Diploma in Family Medicine to enhance my medical knowledge and clinical competence. Its a privilege and blessing to have this opportunity. So even with a thousand of little things to do for work and at home, must give some time to study, study, study….
6. FLEXY FLEXITARIAN
I know this is the worst time to diet. But renewing my promise to adhere to my flexitarian diet is more beneficial than harm. Wikipedia defined flexitarian diet is having diet that is mainly plant-based with occasional inclusion of meat products. Our baby needs some meat for protein and iron but baby also needs a lot of greens. Sometimes my love for red meat makes me ignore the importance of my green friends. So by concentrating on have a diet that is more plant-based with occasional drizzle of meat from time to time will allow my baby to have a healthy balance of nutrition and make this little mama energetic & less prone to lethargy. I have learned long time that my body is more responsive and work better if my diet is mainly vegetarian but sometimes the carnivore in me is resisting.
7. BLOG IT
I know I have been neglecting my blog. But I shouldn’t deny the fact how my blog has enriched my life in a way I have never imagined and that it is an creative outlet for the little writer in me. But life has taken over and I forgotten to come to my sanctuary of my silly thoughts and literary babbles. I should renew my motivation for blogging. I don’t aim to be a bigwig blogger or a super social media superstar with thousands of ads on her page. I am happy that I get have this comfortable home in the blogosphere. Thank you for those who drop by to read my scribbles.
8. TREASURE MEMORIES & LOVE LIFE
I learned time is fleeting and every minute counts. I enjoy the Facebook Lookbook that allowed me to view my life in 5 years through Facebook and realise how important it is to created beautiful memories. Thank Mark Zuckerberg! You are amazing. Check my Facebook Lookbook! I love it! I also promised to start a scrapbook of our life herein Singapore and where it will take us someday. It is a great memorabilia for the kids. I also have another travel scrapbook for all the places we travel to.
Happy Chinese New Year people! Lets stick to our goals for 2014! This is it!
