MONTHLY MEET-UP WITH FRIENDS AT BOBBY’S BAR & RESTAURANT

August 19, 2017 by Little Miss Honey 4,878 Comments

Bobby's Bar & Restaurant

This is such a late post.  Very late post.

I found food photos from my monthly meet-up with my fellow Filipino lady-doctor friends here in Singapore from months ago. There are the 4 of us. We often meet monthly for dinner just to catch up on each other, (though we also have our own Viber chat group), to vent to release some work stress and to exchanges advises for each other or what-nots.

For the second time-around, we chose Chijmes again to be our spot for our meet-up. Previous time, we went to the Wharf Oyster Bar.This time, one of the major foodie from the group suggested Bobby’s Bar & Restaurant and we are glad she did.

Check out the wonderful spread of food…..

Bobby’s Nachos

Bobby's Bar & Restaurant

These are con chips with beef chilli con carne, black olives, jalapeño peppers, gratinated with cheddar cheese, topped with sour cream, tomato salsa, and Bobby’s dip. This is good appetiser while waiting for the main course. You will keep munching and munching while chatting with friends.

BBQ Wings

Bobby's Bar & Restaurant

Another appetiser which can easily pass off as a main course if served with rice is the BBQ Wings. It is deep-fried to perfection and glazed with Bobby’s very own BBQ sauce.

Seafood Marinara

Bobby's Bar & Restaurant

This is great for those who love seafood and spicy food. It is has prawn, squid and oysters with spicy tomato sauce over spaghetti.

Baby Back BBQ Ribs

Bobby's Bar & Restaurant

When I tried this (back when I was a full omnivore – currently, I am transitioning to a flexitarian to hopefully a vegan), I said that my meat-loving husband would definitely love this. It comes with coleslaw and fries. You can order it as Lighter, Original and Steel City Rack. You got the Original . The sauce was perfection. The meat was tender and easily slide off from the bones.

Bobby’s Pizza

Bobby's Bar & Restaurant

This is a BBQ sauce- based pizza topped with minced bbq pork meat, onion, greens and cheese. I love how ardent the crust is and the sauces created at Bobby’s are one of their strength.

It is obvious that we love food a lot. We are often advised by waiters and waitresses that we are ordering too much food but they underestimated our capability to finish the food we order. Hahaha!

Do you any restaurants here in Singapore you suggest we go to next? Do give us some helpful suggestions. Thanks in advance.

FOOD DISCOVERIES: WHARF OYSTER BAR

February 9, 2016 by Little Miss Honey 3,479 Comments

Wharf Oyster Bar

Wharf Oyster Bar

I have this monthly get-together with my fellow kababayan doctors who are working in same company clinic but at different branches. It’s our chance to try out new restaurants in Singapore. We decided to try one of the restaurants in Chijmes. Chijmes is a beautiful complex that used to be a Catholic convent. Now, this historic building was restored to a commercial complex for dining and shopping. I brought J and Naj to our monthly get-together. It was Christmas time so there was a Christmas market happening. K brought her hubby and cute toddler along too.

Chijmes

Chijmes

F initially suggested chose Bobby’s Restaurant and Bar but they were fully booked.  She reserved us at Prive‘ instead however when we got there, there was a mixed-up in the reservations. We serendipitously picked Wharf Oyster Bar instead and it didn’t disappoint.

We enjoyed our food alfresco. The staff was courteous and service was fast.

FRENCH FRIES ($12.00)

Wharf Oyster Bar

French fries are a great starter food. The serving comes with truffle oil, green tea and cajun. I like their french fries with the 3 dips that comes with it.

NACHOS

Wharf Oyster Bar

This is another great starter dish. It has three dips: salsa, blue cheese and guacamole. Talking with your friends and munching on these, you don’t realise you have finish several handful of nachos already. It can be addicting to dip and munch on these.

MINI SQUID RINGS ($12.00)

Wharf Oyster Bar

The mini squid rings are cooked just right and it is not oily. I wish there is more of this serving and the chili mayonnaise dip is just perfect for this. The dip is not as spicy which fit my taste.

CHICKEN WINGS ($12.00)

Wharf Oyster Bar

We love this dish! The coating of the chicken wings is mildly spicy with flavourful herbs. This is a great combination to your cold beer or even as your main course with some rice.

SEAFOOD RISOTTO

Wharf Oyster Bar

This is my second time to try risotto. I prefer how they cook the risotto in Wharf. It was not dry nor too mushy. The serving is small though. The seafood was fresh though I wish more seafood were toss in this dish.

WAGYU SIRLOIN STEAK ($58 – 150g)

Wharf Oyster Bar

The wagyu steak is mediocre and not that memorable. It is not dry nor juicy. I like the salad and gravy that comes with it.

The two hubbies got a bucket of Corona beers  ($52.00).

Wharf Oyster Bar

Overall, I would recommend the Wharf Oyster Bar if you are looking for place  with great ambiance and good finger foods. I have yet to try their oyster platters. I shy away from oysters for now that I am pregnant, maybe after giving birth, I will try to come back for their specialty.
