Cavite is a major historical place that witnessed the birth of an independent Philippines. It played a major role as the cradle of the Philippine Revolution in the 1890s, and continues to hold a great chunk of our history in its very core. Every Filipino who visited Cavite loved its  one-of-a-kind appeal.

What with all the breathtaking cultural and natural attractions coupled with exciting outdoor activities that the province offers, local residents and global expatriates alike are sure to have a great time in this province. 1. Paragliding in Carmona

Never thought that you could experience paragliding in Cavite, did you? The province is now a hub for various outdoor activities including extreme sports. If you love the thrill of adventure, you shouldn’t miss the paragliding experience at Carmona Ridge. It’s a high-adrenaline activity that will pump you up with fresh vigor. Don’t worry about being up there all by yourself—it’s relatively safe and secure. But if you really can’t do it on your own, you can always opt for tandem flying so a professional pilot can accompany you. The paragliding area is open from November to June so you have plenty of time to prepare. Be sure to give this exciting sport a try when you’re in Cavite.

2. Boat riding across Taal Lake

Taal volcano is, of course, in Batangas, but you can have an iconic view of it from Tagaytay, the most popular tourist spot in Cavite. Tagaytay Ridge offers you a breathtaking view of the volcano and its lake. You can also ride a boat to the famous volcano from Tagaytay City. Boat guides will lead you to Talisay, Batangas, where you can admire the crater lake up close. You can even go for a trekking adventure that will take you to the peak of the volcano. Depending on the trail you choose, you can even descend to Taal’s inner lake once you reach the top.

Tagaytay is unarguably one of Cavite’s top tourist destinations. A trip to the province won’t be complete without a visit to this spectacular summer destination. Tagaytay offers a lot of fun-filled activities, and among them is horseback riding. You have three choices when riding a horse at the Picnic Grove—either you go in circles, opt for a view of Taal volcano, or take a ride around the pineapple and camote plantations in Tagaytay. Regardless of the package you take, you are sure to enjoy horseback riding in a major summer destination in the Philippines.

4. Celebrating local festivals

Cavite provides a nice peek at the Philippines’ vibrant culture. It’s a place that celebrates various festivities all year long. Cavite’s local festivals include the Mardicas Festival in January; the Sorteo, Sumilang, Pista ng mga Puso and Pahimis festivals held every February; the Kabitenyo annual festival in March; the Wagayway Festival and Hijas de Maria in May; Kalayaan and Regada festivals in June; Sapyaw Festival every August; Kawayan and Tahong festivals during September; Tinapa Festival in October; Irok Festival in November; and Maytinis Festival in December. 6. Motorbike racing and karting in Carmona

You will never run out of exciting things to do in Cavite. Apart from the paragliding adventure mentioned before, prepare to be thrilled by motorbike racing and karting. If you’re a racing junkie, then you would surely appreciate the racing circuit at Carmona. Just remember to bring your motorcycle license since you won’t be allowed inside the track unless you have one. This is to implement the racing circuit’s safety standards.

7. Splashing about in different waterfalls

When you hear of Cavite, you don’t immediately think of waterfalls. However, since the province is home to several mountains, it also has a number of well-hidden waterfalls that not a lot of tourists have explored. Among these waterfalls are the Malibiclibic Falls in Aguinaldo, the Balite Falls in Amadeo, the Palsajingin Falls in Indang, the Talon-Butas Falls in General Aguinaldo and the Saluysoy Falls in Alfonso. Cavite’s waterfalls are one of the reasons why the province is perfect for a summer getaway.

8. Mountain climbing at Pico de Loro

It’s not an overstatement to say that Cavite has it all. The province is rich with man-made attractions as well as natural wonders. Cavite is a good place for mountain climbing. Its highest peak, Pico de Loro (Parrot’s Peak) is one of its most admired attractions. Mountain climbers all over the country visit this mountain to test their climbing skills. Its firm, steep slope is what makes it quite a challenge especially to newbie climbers.

9. Exploring Cabag Cave in Maragondon

There is so much more to Cavite than exciting outdoor activities. The Cabag Cave in Maragondon is possibly one of those places that you’ve never thought of exploring before. There are only three caves in Cavite, and Cabag is the most popular of them. The other two are Matala Cave in Limbon, Indang and the Piitan Cave in Daine, Indang. What makes Cabag Cave unique is the underground river that runs almost 50 meters deep beneath it. If you’re a nature lover, the Cabag Cave should definitely be on your list when trekking around Cavite.

10. Time-tripping all around the province

Cavite is, without a doubt, one of the most important places in Philippine history. Dubbed as the “Historical Capital of the Philippines,” Cavite boasts cultural sites everywhere. You have probably heard of the famous General Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit. It was where the Philippines’ first president declared the country’s independence from Spain. Cavite is also home to Trece Martires, a component city that is named after the 13 martyrs of Cavite who were convicted of rebellion during the Spanish era. There is also the famous Corregidor Island, where both Filipino and American soldiers defended the entrance to Manila Bay from Japanese invaders during the war. There are a lot more historical sites in Cavite, and each of them is as important as the others. When you’re spending your vacation in Cavite, don’t miss the opportunity to visit these essential landmarks that defined the country’s history.
