3 CUTE CAFES IN NORTH SHARQIYA

April 1, 2021 by Little Miss Honey

cafe in Oman

If you are a tourist or living in Muscat, Oman, you might want to head to North Sharqiya to visit the Wahiba Sands then head to Wadi Bani Khalid before journeying on to Sur in South Sharqiya region. In the interior areas of Oman, you would see generic coffee shops with very modest and basic design. It would be a simple shop offering Omani coffee or Qahwa/Kahwa (in Arabic) in tiny paper cup. You can order by simply honking your car horn outside of the store and a coffeeshop employee will come out to take your order. No need go out of your car. But it is refreshing to discover few cute instagrammable cafes like a mirage in rows of basic coffeeshop in the area.

Here are 3 cute cafes found in North Sharqiya, Oman:

  1. Sereno Cafe

There have 3 branches in Ibra in Safalah , Ash Sharqiyah University and Al Yahmadi. I heard rumours they maybe opening another branch soon too. They have lovely coffee interiors that is at par with other Muscat coffeeshops. There is an area designated for family and women. They provide a few books in the side for their customers too.

Sereno Cafe

They have a wide variety of yummy frappuccinos . Their cheesecakes are our favorite. They also serve pastas and sandwiches.

2. Karma Cafe

Another cute cafe found in Al Yhamadi, Ibra is Karma Cafe. The coffee interiors are lovely too, more masculine and mysterious. I may prefer the interiors of Sereno Cafe but I love the perfect blend of Arabica blend of Karma coffee. I particularly like their Spanish coffee.

We love their tiny donuts. We hope they can make bigger ones too. They also have good unique pastas to choose from. They have this Cheetohs pasta that you may want to try.

3. Blue Cloud Coffee

If you are heading to Wahiba Sands, stop by Blue Cloud Cafe for some strong iced coffee in Bidiyah. I tried their Spanish Coffee which I liked but the caffeine was really strong, I had a hard time sleeping that night I drank it. They also offer non-coffee drinks. They have several desserts, sandwiches and shawarma.

I am hoping to find more cute cafes hidden somewhere here in Oman because that has always been my thing. I love cafes. If you know of any other nice cafes in North Sharqiya or in your region, please let me know.

CAFE MELBA: A KID-FRIENDLY RESTAURANT IN EAST, SINGAPORE

August 4, 2018 by Little Miss Honey 37 Comments

Cafe melba

Being a mom of 3 young kids, I am grateful that Singapore has many child-friendly restaurants that can be a blessing if you want to meet up with fellow mommy friends. I get to catch up with my friends and my kids are happy that I brought them along. It is a win-win! There are several child-friendly restaurant in the East for me to choose from when my doctor-friend and I planned to meet up, bringing our kids along with us. I heard a lot about Cafe Melba so I suggested the restaurant to her.

Cafe Melba

Cafe Melba is perfectly located in the spacious area of Goodman Arts Centre. It’s name is derived from influences of Melbourne and Asia. Melb + A, get it? Hehe! It provides a relaxed vibe perfect for family and friends to enjoy a gourmet Australian-Asian fusion cuisine. Customers can enjoy the restaurant alfresco or indoors. There is a huge lawn for kids to run around and a big bouncy castle available everyday as long as weather permits. On weekdays, it is available from 3 pm to 8 pm and on weekends and public holidays, it is available from 9 am to 8 pm. Oh, my active 2 older boys love the bouncy castle. And it looked like most of the kids who were there enjoyed it too.

My friend and I loved that the kids were having fun while my helper was looking after them and we were able to catch up. We ordered some Western dishes and coffee while we chatted away. The vibe in the cafe very casual and just perfect for families and friends to get away from the bustle of the city.

On a weekend, the place was pretty crowded. We had to queue and wait for a table. We noticed a lot of Caucasian expats in the restaurant. The food wasn’t really spectacular and it was a bit expensive that the usual dining options. But then again, we are probably paying more for the ambience. Here are some of the foods we ordered:

Beef Burger

Chicken Bites

Cafe Melba

Hawaiian Pizza

Cafe Melba

Fish & Chips

It is good to note that on Mondays, kids can eat for free!

After a few hours, it rained so they need to deflate the bouncy castle much to the disappointment of the kids who came seem to get enough of it. We console them with ice cream which brought back the smiles into their faces.

Cafe Melba

Cafe Melba is a good venue for get-togethers, events, kids birthday party, and weddings. They have their own event coordinator with a tailored package for everyone. When we were there, the restaurant was actually preparing for a kids party. My kids were eyeing the purple and fuschia balloons for the party, hoping they can get hold of one. Hahaha!

If you are looking for a nice chill kid-friendly cafe in the East, you might want to check out Cafe Melba. If you are located in the West of Singapore, you can check out Cafe Melba at Mediapolis.

FOOD DISCOVERIES: MONTANA BREW

October 26, 2015 by Little Miss Honey 82 Comments

Montana Brew Singapore

Montana Brew SingaporeHubby and I decided to have monthly dates  to spend time with each other, just as two without our little ‘fire-cracker’ Najieboy. We didn’t know where we will go on our date last month then I remembered the cafe my blogger friends tried before. So I suggested the place to my hubby.

Montana Brew is a small cafe inside PoMo mall. You can easily miss this cafe when you go in. But I must say just follow your nose. You can smell rich aroma of coffee and yummy savory waffles.

But my hubby is not into coffee so we are there to try  their dishes.

Montana Brew Singapore

Southern Fried Chicken Waffle Sandwich

Montana Brew Singapore

  ($9.50)

This is the first time to try a waffle sandwich. The first time I tried a bite of this waffle sandwich, I am in love! It was so delicious and my tummy is singing. The waffles were crisp and not overly- thick. I love the taste of the chicken, it is flavourful and mild spiciness. It is perfectly layered with mayo coleslaw. This also comes with a chilli corn sides. I am totally in love with this dish.

Spicy Bacon Pasta

Montana Brew Singapore($11.00)

My hubby  loves spicy food and pasta so this is just perfect for him. There are 4 level of spiciness to order this pasta. Since I have very poor tolerate to spicy food, I choose the Level  1 Spicy.  But Level 1 was making my mouth go on fire!!! I can’t imagine if I choose Level 4. But I must say this is  a  great bacon pasta.  Bacon  and  several spices makes this dish  very tasteful. The pasta was cooked al-dente. People who love chilli will  worship this dish. I do like this pasta however I keep reaching for my drink  because it was just too spicy for me.

Montana Kickass Burger

montana brew burger singapore

($10.00)

This comes in a modest size with fries. It seems like an ordinary burger, nothing special. The patty was not dry and the cheese was a bit stringy. I seem to forget we even ate this. I believe there are more better burgers out there.

Red Velvet Stack

red velvet pancake singapore

($10.50)

This is one instagram-worthy waffle stack that is often sold-out. There are three fluffy red-colorer waffles with  bit of cocoa and vanilla ice-cream in between with white-chocolate rose sauce. I find the waffles too thick and dry. It is not really my favourite. I wouldn’t order again this one actually

Iced Tea

Montana Brew

I like this ice tea. It was cooling and doesn’t taste bitter at all. I would wish they have bigger serving of this.

Hubby and I went home feeling very full and happy. It was such a satisfying date night and we end up going home with protruding smiling bellies. They say the couple who pigs out together, stays together… And get fat together.. Hahaha! Ok fine, I made that up. Plus I am the only one getting fat. Umpph! So unfair..
