THINGS THAT INSPIRED ME THIS WEEK

things that inspired me this week

things that inspired me this week

Last Monday, my hubby  and I practiced our right of suffrage. By May 2016, the Philippines will be having a new president. We are fortunate that now, we can vote even if we are based overseas. We get to vote earlier than the people back in the Philippines. Who did we vote for? Let me keep that a secret for now. But all I can say to my fellow  kababayans, please vote wisely. Our country’s future is at stake. Vote with your minds rather than emotions.

My husband and I voted at the Philippine Embassy and brought along our kids with us. There was no long queue and voting was a breeze.

This week also I went back to work. I have the initial first-day-of-work apprehension but when the workday started, ( it may sound funny) but I realised that I missed my work. It was nice seeing my old patients and my amazing colleagues. I am glad work wasn’t really stressful but then again I worked only half a week this week.

I also had two blogger events that I attended this week. I attended another fun #BlogMeetSg hosted by Lucy of Lulabelle Lifestyle. It was held in the August Society Swimwear Showroom in quirky Haji Lane. There were so many brands that joined that night. I will be blogging about it very soon.

I also was invited and got a VIP seat at the #ClozetteStyleParty at Suntec City Mall. There was a fun fashion show showcasing the summer collection of ASOS. I was also over the moon that I got to see in flesh one of the beauty Youtubers that I have obsessing recently, Morgan of Beauty Breakdown. She is so gorgeous! We went home with a goody bag from Clozette and sponsors. Thank you for inviting, Clozette.co!

Here are a round-up of links I found online that inspired me this week:

Some inspiration for my next hair color

Things not to do in the morning so you won’t feel exhausted

Diet to increase breastmilk supply

Nursing hacks for mothers who breastfeed

Audrey Hepburn’s granddaughter is just as stylish as her

I hope you all have a chill week next week. It is getting very hot here in Singapore! Stay cool, guys!

BLOGMEETSG GATHERING AT WOOLF WORKS

Woolf works

Last 14th of December, I was happy to  attend another #BlogMeetSg gathering at Woolf Works in Joo Chiat Road. I always look forward to a #BlogMeetSg gathering. #BlogMeetSg, founded by the beautiful Lucy of Lulabelle Lifestyle, are a series of fun  & intimate gatherings among  bloggers  and brands in Singapore to network and create a harmonious relationship in and out of the blogosphere.

I was greeted by Lucy upon entering Woolf Works and the session started soon after. The place looks charming with wide spaces, yellow wooden panel windows and quirky decors.

It was great to see familiar and new faces that night. Lucy gave an introduction of what we will be expecting for this BlogMeetSg gathering. We  are all excited and expecting a productive & enlightening night.

BlogMeetSg

We were introduced to Michaela, founder & director of Woolf Works.  Woolf Works is a  relatively new and nteresting concept to me. It is a co-working space dedicated for women. There is  growing community of WAHM (Work-At-Home-Moms) and somehow this space provides a place for this growing community, considering that working alone at home can be lonely. There is often a need for community, to feel connected, to have a place to be more productive. This place is perfect for freelancers, business owners, bloggers or writers, consultants and business pre-launchers. This is an answer to women who are trying to balance a growing business with their growing family.

Founder of Woolf Works

Woolf Works is named after the famous writer, Virgina Woolf who wrote ‘A Room of Ones’ Own‘ which echoes the objective of the place where there is a need for a separate space for women to be creative and productive. You can sign up for a membership plan depending on what fits best for you. It is very flexible enough to cater to everyones’ needs. Check out their membership plans here. All members has access to fast wifi, free printing & scanning, use of free kitchen facilities and free coffee & tea.

That night, we also got to enjoy healthy nibbles and refreshments courtesy of Artisan Boulangerie Co. Artisan Boulangerie Co. is a contemporary bakery with French influences led by award-winning baker, Eran Mayer. They have teamed up with a nutritionist to provide healthier options for customers. We enjoyed the foods provided that night. Who says healthy food are boring and bland? So not true.

We were privileged that night to meet and hear Dr. David Stewart talk about Young Living Essential Oils. I love essential oils especially after learning of its wide range of benefits and versatility after attending an Aromatherapy Workshop. I also love burning essential oils at night to give your room a relaxing and fragrant atmosphere. So I was really looking forward for Dr. Stewart to supplement me more knowledge on essential oils.

Young Essentials Oils

We were introduced to the different type of essential oils and we get to take a quick sniff of each of the products. It was great to know the history of essentials oils that it is even dates back to olden time and are often mentioned in the Bible. Essential oils can also play a very big part in healing of ailments.

After an educational talk by Dr. David Stewart, we had another speaker for tonight to help us to be more productive with our blogs. We were happy to meet Olivia Chiong of the Unbusy Entrepreneur who introduced to us the P.L.A.N. – a foolproof guide to improve our blogs.

Unbusy Entrepreneur

By not giving all away, I will share with you some of the tips Olivia taught us that night. It involves planning blog schedule and sticking to it, using automated applications, learning more of google alerts, trending topics & google algorithms and understanding the benefits of having mailing list subscriptions for our readers.

It was definitely another successful #BlogMeetSg. Thank you Lucy for inviting me to this wonderful event. To be more updated for more #BlogMeetSg gathering, subscribe to Lulabelle Lifestyle Facebook Page.

BlogMeetSg x The Nail Social

Last week, I got to attend another #BlogMeetSg gathering. This time, it is held in one of my favourite salon, The Nail Social. Read my blog post on The Nail Social here.

The Nail Social is located in colourful quirky Haji Lane. The Nail Social offers an intimate luxurious treatment for their customer by treating them with a one-of-a -kind service by having a personal iPad preloaded with movies, magazines, games. It  goes far and beyond as a lifestyle salon because it is also a socially responsible establishment. This enterprise offers training & employment opportunities to single mothers & women from low-income households and empowering them to security & self-sufficiency. Adding to their advocacy to being socially friendly, their nail products used are organic, non-toxic and cruelty-free. Environmentally-conscious customers would feel not guilty and would be 100% assured they are not contributing any harm to the environment. and books.

It was nice to see Cheryl, the co-founder of The Nail Social, again, who was the one who greeted us as we entered the salon. We were given Coco Loco coconut water bottles and a pack prepared by Spotless Medical which contains a full sized Clarifying Cleanser for each of the bloggers.

We proceeded to the 2nd level of The Nail Social where there was a nice set up of the place. I first saw Lucy of Lulabelle Lifestyle, the lovely host and founder of BlogMeetSg, happily chatting with other bloggers. I was happy to see a lot of familiar faces at this BlogMeetSg.

The Nail Social gave each blogger a treat by choosing an Express Manicure or an Express Pedicure. I opted for a pedicure. We waited for  our turn to get our nails done. When it was our turn, I had my nails done along side Miss Chocoholic and Molly Mia.

I chose the fuchsia red nail polish color. And I love it!

We enjoyed some sweet nibbles from Moppy Pops. They were interesting and intricately-done cake pops. Cake pops are fun dessert foods for gatherings like BlogMeetSg. It is even a great topic to start a conversation with new acquaintances.

After we had our nails done, we went to another corner of The Nail Social to create our own Shophouse SixtyFive lip balms. Shophouse SixtyFive is an original Singaporean Bath and Body company. One of their popular products are their Beeswax Kopitiam Lip Balm. It was nice of Petrina, the founder of Shophouse SixtyFive to guide us in making our own lip balms.

I chose the Cheer Up Buttercup scent for the scent of my lip balm. I felt so happy I actually made my own lip balm that night. I like lip balms a lot.

That night, we were privileged to meet the charming and beautiful owner of Ayelli Argan Oil, Habiba. Here she is with the equally beautiful Lucy of Lulabelle Lifestyle.

Habiba approached our group and chatted us with like we were all long-lost friends. We can’t help but admire her luxurious curls. She even taught us some trick or two for gorgeous tresses. Though I don’t think we can ever achieve her beautiful curls. We asked her product, Ayelli Argan Oil. We learned so much about Argan oil  that night and she gave us tips how to spot a fake Argan oil. I will feature her soon in my Expat Diaries series. We also each got a bottle of Ayelli Argan oil to try.

It was great night for us, ladies, to be pampered with some mani or pedi, make lip balms, enjoy some refreshing drink & sweet cake pops and chatting about haircare , skincare and what-nots. It was very nice of Shutter Speed Photography to lend his talent to take wonderful pictures of the night.

Thank you Lulabelle Lifestyle to another lovely #BlogMeetSg gathering.
