YOUNG LIVING ESSENTIAL OILS

Young Living Essential Oils

I love creating a relaxing atmosphere. My sister knows this because even when we were young, I would love burning incense sticks in my room, turn on some instrumental music in the background and light up candles. I carried that over until now. Now, I love burning essential oils in our bedroom to make it smell nice and create a peaceful space for us as we unwind at night. I love essential oils for that purpose.

I did have my Essential Oils 101 a few years ago when I won this free Aromatherapy Course.I was given an introduction about Aromatherapy. I initially thought aromatherapy is just about creating wonderful scents. But I never realised that it is more than that.  Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils to promote or improve human health, hygiene and well-being. The key word here is essential oils, not just any oils. Essential oils are volatile substances from aromatic plants. I was so surprised to see the amount of plants/flowers needed to create a small flask of essential oils.

Since I have started my minimalism journey, I also discovered the versatility of essential oils. I have used essential oils in creating some of my beauty & skincare products. I am aiming to creating cleaning products using essential oils and some kitchen & bathroom products. My favourite essential oils are Lemon, Peppermint and Lavender.

Finding good and authentic essential oils can be hard and tricky. After trying out several mall essential oils, I get easily disappointed and I feel cheated on some of the essential oils I would buy. I have heard so much about Young Living Essential Oils. I first encountered Young Living Essential Oils in one of the Blog Meet Sg Event. We did yoga with essential oils. It was fantastic!

So recently, I finally gotten into the bandwagon to learn more about the Young Living Essential Oils. I am so impressed with their vision and their passion to deliver the best and versatile essential oils & organic products. Their mission is to champion nature’s loving energy – essential oils – by fostering a community of healing and discovery while inspiring individuals to wellness, purpose and abundance. I have heard friends raving about Young Living products so much so I visited their office in Somerset and decided to get a Basic Plus Starter Kit which include a Dewdrop Diffuser, 2 NingXia Red (2 oz) , Stress Away Essential Oil (5 mL), AromaGlide Roller Fitment, Sample Packets, Love It? Share It? Business Cards, Love It? Share It? Oil Bottles, Product Guide, Products List, Lemon Essential Oils (5 mL) and Lavender Essential Oils (5 mL).

HAVAROMA AROMATHERAPY WORKSHOP FOR MOMS & MOMS-TO-BE

August 10, 2015 by Little Miss Honey 216 Comments

Havaroma Aromatherapy Workshop

The BlogMeetSg founded by Lucy of Lulabelle Lifestyle was great venue for bloggers and brands to network. One of the brands that participated in the first BlogMeetSg last February was Havaroma.

Havaroma is a company that conducts aromatherapy workshops and distributes essentials oils. Havaroma had a social media contest for those who joined the BlogMeetSg last February. We will take a picture of the Havaroma aromatic stick that is in our goody bag and the best picture win. And guess what?! I won!

So I got a free aromatherapy class of my choice! After checking my schedule, I was able to attend the Aromatherapy Workshop for Moms & Moms-To-Be.

Havaroma Aromatherapy Workshop

I headed to Rochester Park to Body With Soul, the first multidisciplinary health and medical centre in Singapore. I never knew there was place like this in Singapore. They have a medical clinic, wellness & sports clinic, livewell clinic which teaches nutrition, a cafe, counselling centre and alternative clinic. I see a lot of expats there.

Body with Soul

I met Kuan Nee, founder of Havaroma and a certified aromatherapist with the National Association of Holistic Aromatherapy. She was also a radiant mom-to-be. She was the one facilitating the workshop for that day and I was excited!

I was instructed not to where perfume for the class because I will be smelling a lot of aroma during the class. I will have to hydrate myself through the class so I won’t feel heady with all the aroma I will inhale. The class was held in a lovely glass room.

I was given an introduction about Aromatherapy. I initially thought aromatherapy is just about creating wonderful scents. I love  burning aroma sticks and oils. But I never realised that it is more than that.  Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils to promote or improve human health, hygiene and well-being. The key word here is essential oils, not jus any oils. Essential oils are volatile substances from aromatic plants. I was so surprised to see the amount of plants/flowers needed to create a small flask of essential oils. No wonder essential oils are not cheap. I enjoy listening to Kuan Nee talk about aromatherapy and essential oils. You can feel and see her passion in aromatherapy.

I got acquainted with several essential oils. I learned another thing that day. GC/MS – Quality and Gas Chromatographt/Mass Spectrometry. This is to ensure that you get a high quality essential oils. This is to test the oil that can achieve its therapeutic effect. It is the essential oil company’s responsibility to provide the consumer the GCMS report.

Essential oils can create room diffuser, body/massage oil, body butter, lip balm, scents, facial cleanser, inhaler, multipurpose cleaner, foot soak, candles, etc.

Because essential oils are very volatile, it must not be put directly to the skin or taken internally. It must be combined with “carriers” like creams or vegetable oils.

For the workshop, we made 3 things using essentials oils and I can take them home. Yey! First we made Multi-Purpose Cleaner.

Multi-Purpose Cleaner using essential oils

We used water, white vinegar, Castile soap and drops of Lemon, Siberian Fir and laurel Leaf essential oils. I dropped the oils alternating each other and must drop sideways and wait for it  to drop. So patience is a virtue here.

Here is the finish product:

Next, we made the Soothe Away Diffuser. I call it may Sleep Diffuser. It help induce good sleep perfect for pregnancy and caring for your child. I was given choices to what essential oils to use. I love citrus-y smell. I chose Sweet Orange, Cedarwood and Lavender.

Lastly, we made a Hand Sanitizer. I was also given liberty to choose my oils. I have to mix my oils in aloe vera gel.
