NAJ’S LEGOLAND MALAYSIA BIRTHDAY

August 24, 2016 by Little Miss Honey 1,505 Comments

Legoland Malaysia

With careful contemplation on how to celebrate our 2 years old’s birthday, my husband and I decided we go on a quick get-away that Naj would enjoy. Taking advantage on the proximity of Singapore to other places, we thought, how about Legoland Malaysia?

I put on my planning hat and did the necessary arrangement for our trip. Since my annual leave wasn’t approved on Naj’s birthday, we just have to celebrate his birthday in advance in Legoland and prepare a mini party at home on the day itself.

Bringing an active toddler and a 3 months old baby without a nanny can be challenging if we decided to go to Malaysia via the regular Larkin bus. It would be exhausting to go up and down the crowded bus, queue up in immigration area, carry all our stuff for inspection and go back to our bus again. So I contacted Ed from Super88 Transport Service to get transportation service which will bring us from home to Legoland and next day Legoland to home.

Hubby bought the Legoland Theme tickets online. We decided not to get the Legoland Waterpark tickets. I booked reservations to Legoland Hotel.

On the day of the trip, Naj woke up early, excited for his 2 days of Lego-adventure. A nice white Toyota Alphard picked us up early in our condo. The vehicle was spacious. It can fit 6-8 passengers. There was so much room for our stuff, we even brought two strollers for the kids. The driver is such a nice guy too. He chatted with my hubby on our short drive to Malaysia. Immigration check-points were easy breezy. We don’t need to getout of  the car. It was totally worth it, getting transport services especially if you are travelling with kids.

We were in Legoland Malaysia by 10 AM. The burst of bright color of Legoland Hotel greeted us with excitement. Hotel lobby has a big Lego castle and big Pirate ship with a lot of little Lego bricks inside. Also there is a City Play corner where there are bigger cushion Lego bricks that you can created little house. There is also a Wii corner for kids & kids-at-heart can play. There in therehotel lobby, Naj was already busy running around and happily playing. Check in time was 3 PM so we have to leave our stuff in their big stockroom. It was kind-of a hassle since we would have prefered to check our rooms first and freshen up.

We entered Legoland Theme Park by 11 AM. Legoland Theme Park reminds me of a smaller Universal Studios but Legos. I think going to Theme Parks are great family bonding.

It was drizzling that time so I got some ponchos at the Legoland store. Some say Legoland are more for kids rather than adults. But I think that is not entirely true. There were a few rides that Naj cannot ride yet. So it is something that parents can take note when bringing their 2-year-old and below children. Most rides are for 3 years old and above. Nonetheless, there are several playgrounds inside the Theme Park which kids of all ages can enjoy. Naj has so much fun in one of the playgrounds. We stayed there for hours.

Here are the rides we tried in Legoland:

1. Legoland Express

Legoland Malaysia

Legoland Malaysia

It is a train touring us around Legoland. We can bring baby Fynn on the ride with us. Naj enjoyed this ride on the “choo choo train”.

2. Boating School

Naj get to ride on the boat twice! J and I took turns in riding with him. Mind you, it not easy driving that boat, haha…

3. Bettle Bounce

J tried this one while I opted out of this, hehe..

4. Legoland City Airport

Legoland Malaysia

This is a merry-go-round of colorful planes which you can make it go up an down. Naj again rode this twice with me and J taking turns.

5. Lost Kingdom Adventure

Legoland Malaysia

This is a treasure hunt using laser guns shooting certain points in a room and see your score in the panel in front of you. It’s like the Revenge of Mummy Ride in Universal Studios. You enter rooms with different scenes by a 4-seater car. J went in first with Naj. J wanted to go again because he was having so much fun shooting laser gun. Naj didn’t want to go again and looked for me. I tried asking Naj if he wants to join me and he did. The whole ride, he was hiding in my right arm & chest and checking from time to time if the ride was over. I realized he must have been scared of the mummies and spiders popping here and there.

6. The Dragon

Legoland Malaysia

This is a roller coaster ride which you’ll expect to get wet in the end. I let J try this one for all of us since the kids can’t ride this one.

Here are playgrounds we visited:

1. The Shipyard

Legoland Malaysia

2. Pharaoh’s Revenge

This is a small but fun playground would love to play at. You shoot balls from little canons.

3. Duplo Playtown

This is a large playground where you find the Duplo Express. We spent hours here which Naj had a grand time running and playing all around.

There is a big Baby Care facility where you can change your kids’ diaper, breastfeed your baby or shield your little kids from the sun. I love thier amenities there.

(We weren’t able to try the other rides and go to the Miniland because the toddler had a huge meltdown.)

Before heading back to the hotel, we decided to have a late lunch. We didn’t eat lunch inside the theme park. There were restaurants outside the park near the hotel. We ate at Secret Recipe. We have not tried eating in Secret Recipe even in Singapore. There have a wide range of dishes and lots of yummy cake choices.

We got a call from the hotel concierge that our room was ready. There are 3 types of theme rooms in Legoland Hotel: Pirate, Adventure and Kingdom. We chose the Kingdom-themed room.

I am totally in love with the room. They even give us an upgrade of giving us a room overlooking the theme park. The room is decked from walls, to carpet, doors etc in medieval decor. There is a large king-sized bed and a double-deck bunk beds adjacent to the next room separated by a sliding door. Even the bathroom looks kingly with an adult and kid sinks.

There is a box of Lego bricks for kids to play in the room. There is a wooden treasure box in a corner with a Lego frog in top of it. There is a puzzle for us to answer in order for us to open the box. J racked his brain to answer the puzzle. It took him a long time to answer the puzzle and at last, we got the prizes inside: a sword, an ID necklace and a wall stickers. We don’t mind staying in our room but we were hoping we can go back to the theme park to check out the other rides.

At 6:45 PM, we headed back to the theme park only to know they are closing. So we decided to have an early dinner. We ate at Absolute Thai for Naj’s birthday dinner with cake from Secret Recipe. I love Thai food and I enjoyed dinner a lot.

After dinner, we hang out at the hotel lobby. There were Lego mascots roaming around and there was a storytelling session which Naj participated.

We had a good night sleeping in our royal beds that night. My boys were so tired from their Lego adventure that they were sleeping soundly before their bedtime.

Next day, we had brunch at The Bricks Restaurant which is part of our hotel accommodations. The restaurant looks like a fun family restaurant though the choices are not impressive.

We planned to spend the remaining hours in Legoland Malaysia  swimming in the Legoland Hotel pool. The pool are had a large one for adults and a smaller one for kids. There were floating Lego bricks cube in the pool which you can assemble as rafts. Even baby Fynn swam in the pool!

Our tranport service fetched us by 4 PM and was home by 5 PM. We were watching cartoons in our way home. It was a fussfree, fun birthday trip. Since we weren’t able to try other rides in the theme park, we will definitely go back there probably when Fynn turns 2 years old.
