MY NEW MATE

April 10, 2009 by Little Miss Honey 1,389 Comments

It was love at first sight. When I saw him, I just know he is the one I been waiting for. He looked so elegant, neat and quiet, sitting aloofly in a corner. I said to myself, I got to have him before anyone get him. And indeed, I did.

At last, I have him alone with me in my room. There he was sitting on my bed, naked in his silky skin. He flash me his pearly whites and I got excited. I touched his soft exterior and stared at him with so much awe. I can’t believe I am holding this beauty. I am in love.

FRENCH WOMEN DON’T GET FAT BY MIREILLE GUILANO

French Women Don't Get Fat
In my trip to Australia, weekday evenings are quite a lull because my cousin and I usually stay in to avoid the cold outside. So my cousin gave me some books for me to read. Out of all the books she gave to me, I got enthralled with this gem of a book. I have heard rave of this book last year from a chick mag. And I totally agree! Its a keeper! If your the one who is in search for a good diet book, I would suggest this one. Mireille Guilano is a great storyteller. She didn’t provide the reader a boring lecture-type solutions to losing weight. She gives you a charming narrative of how she gained weight after adopting some Western mentality in eating ( like Filipinos, too) when she was an exchange student in the United States in her teenage years and later, back in her native country, with the help of Dr. Miracle rediscovered the art of being a French women, that loses easily & maintains a fabulous figure with a certain air of class. She gave women the basic love-yourself weight loss technique by lose the rigid diet craze, simply eat in moderation, enhance the eating experience by using good, in-season ingredients & enjoy every chewing sensation, do a lot of moving & walking and loving yourself. She also gave out a lot of recipes she uses. For simplification, she also gave a bullet form presentation at the end of the book to summarize the points she made. Grab a book now, you’ll be a French woman (*interpretation: classy, sexy, charming) in no time….

I have converted most of my coworkers into French women in no time after lending my book, hehehe…

ASSERT YOUR RIGHTS & OTHER MAGICAL HIDDEN POWERS

April 10, 2009 by Little Miss Honey 1,413 Comments

I came to me late in life (not THAT late, just 29 years late) the realization that we possess hidden powers we could summon any minute of everyday.

Here are some magics powers you could use:

1. ASSERT YOUR RIGHT

I got a poor service from a photograph studio, giving me a wrong background color to what I specified. Usually, I would timidly just keep the picture and pay for another picture in another studio. But this time, I went back to the studio, told them politely that I want a refund for my money because I gave them specific instructions before I had my picture taken. I walk in there knowing my rights as a consumer. And I too was shocked when I got back my money without any hitch.

2. MAKE A WAY

I was getting back on my feet after a cash meltdown by having garage sale,
taking on ‘rakets’& moonlighting jobs and selling my mom’s old catalogues & cookbooks to aspiring dressmakers & cooks.

3. DREAM BIG

If I wasn’t a doctor, I would love to be a social worker and be part of an organization that focus on helping young women. It’s nice to dream about it and another to make moves to make it into a reality. I came to hear this org and I got excited. Bursting with enthusiasm, I wrote a letter to the president of the organization, volunteering my help. I didn’t know if they would respond but in a few days, I received a reply and setting up a meeting… Fabulous, isn’t it? Next stop… A non-violent, greener world…..

4. SMILE

I could stress enough the power of a smile. Even Mother Teresa is an advocate of smiles because she knows the power in a smile. Friendships start from a smile. It also could lift up a day of someone even a random stranger. A positive outlook and enthusiasm is infectious. So, smile and better yet, laugh. Because laughter is a perfection of a smile.

5. PRAYER

Prayer could move mountains, my mama said. And she was right. If you allow the Higher Power to work in your life, amazing & beautiful things unfold in your life that would let you say, “Ei, isn’t just life delightful?”.
