CHINESE NEW YEAR AT RIVER HONGBAO

February 12, 2013 by Little Miss Honey 6 Comments

For Chinese New Year, all the Ilonggo doctors working in Singapore gathered together to celebrate the start of the Year of the Water Snake at the popular Filipino restaurant, Gerry’s Grill. There are two branches of Gerry’s Grill in Singapore and two branches in the United States. Isn’t that cool? Of course, we ordered the foods we miss back home like Bulalo, Binagoongang Rice, Stuffed Squid, Crispy Pata and Pork chop. We had so much fun talking & sharing about our experiences from different hospitals & clinics and  stuffing ourselves with all the high-cholesterol Filipino foods. Hahaha, bad example of doctors to our patient, hehe….

After dinner, we headed to The Float at Marina Bay where we would witness the River Hongbao. River Hongbao is a Chinese New Year tradition where Singaporeans display a variety of beautifully-lit floats in the river, live music & songs that is rooted in tradition and lots of foods kiosk everywhere. This is a popular destination for locals and tourist alike. The place was packed with people when we arrived.

The floats were vibrant in color and the energy in the area was palpable with excitement. It was fun look at our own zodiac and seeing the prediction for us this year.  I still believe we all make our own destiny whatever the fortune cookie say though…. Amen?

Enjoy the rest your holidays, peeps, its working day again tomorrow…
