THINGS THAT INSPIRED ME THIS WEEK

Things that inspired me this week

This week, we got an invite to Barney Live On Stage in City Square Mall and we got a Meet & Greet Pass to have a photo op with Barney & Friends after the show. Isn’t that cool? Though Naj got a bit scared of Barney when he was up closed so he was wailing by the time we had our picture taken.

This week, we also celebrated that Fynn turned 3 months. It has been a tradition in our family that we celebrate with a cake our kids turn one month older until they turn 1 year and it became a yearly thing. It’s also a good excuse to eat cake, hehe. We got our cake at The Royals Cafe. We got a rainbow cake this month.

We decided to dress up the kids in their Batman clothes. They look so cute! Haha! I just look at their photos in my phone the days after. They look so adorable. Yes, I am such a mommy… Hahaha!

I made a Tuna Malunggay Pesto Spread which I took from Eat Clean Love Cookbook last night which became my breast fast this morning. I toasted some wholemeal bread and spread on this health goodness. It is yum! Plus healthy, of course. I had it with my favourite Oldtown Hazel coffee.

Tuna Malungay Pesto spread

Here is the recipe with a bit of revisions in my part:

  1. Puree Malunggay leaves in blender until fine
  2. Mix pureed Malunggay, 2 tsp of chopped garlic and 1/3 cup of olive oil. Set aside.
  3. Combine 2 cans of drained tuna flakes (I got the hot & spicy for added kick), 1/4 cup mayonnaise, 1/2 cup chopped red bell pepper, the   malunggay pesto mixture, salt, black pepper. I added 2 tbsp of sugar. You can add 1/2 cu[ kernel corn also. Here I added a bit of chia seeds.
  4. Spread on pandesal bread or a toasted bread of your choice.

Bon Appetit!

This week, I met up with my girls for our monthly dine out. K and I brought our hubbies and our toddlers with us to Buffet Town. We enjoyed the wide variety of food that was there. I was particularly happy with the mussel soup. It was yummy and buttery. And the best thing about the soup is that it upped my breastmilk supply when I got home. Fynn is one happy baby! We, parents, were also happy that Buffet Town provided a big space for kids to play. Naj and Iyah  enjoyed themselves a lot there. I wasn’t able to take photos of the food we had in Buffet Town but K was able to take a photo of our kids in the play area of Buffet Town.

This week, I got to try again the new trending app, Snapchat, by the encouragement of fellow Filipina Singapore blogger, myfarradise. I tried the app before and I totally didn’t get it. But Farrah said it is a fun app and I should try it. She said my toddler would love it and she was right! Here are some of my snapchat stories:

I love the fun and cute functions of the app. It is a tool I can use to keep Naj entertained and distracted when he is in his cranky moods. You can take photos & videos and they get deleted after 24 hours. I haven’t been following a lot other snap chatters yet. Any suggestions? Follow me at Snapchat: LittleMissHoney.

I was privileged to observe a class for kids in People Impact. I am currently searching for a play-based programme to send Naj when he turns 3-years old. I am so happy with what I saw in the class in People Impact. I am excited when Naj will soon start going to his playgroup classes. I will be blogging about it soon. Watch out for it because there will be a good news for parents who are looking for playgroup classes.

I am so happy that my breastmilk supply is increasing. Lots of water, oatmeal cookies, salmon, clams, and soup are my weapons. I pray it will keep its adequate supply until Fynn turns 1 year old.

WAYS TO GET A PICKY EATER TO TRY SOMETHING NEW

June 2, 2016 by Little Miss Honey 50 Comments

PICKY EATER

For most parents, trying to get a kid out of their food comfort zone is a very hard. Over the years, a child will become very set in their ways, which can lead to them not wanting to try anything new. One example is my son, Naj. In some cases a child will be curious and want to know what is a gyro or what it is their parents have on their plate. A parent will usually want a child to branch out a bit in regards to what they eat, but will not know how to approach it.

PICKY EATER

So below are some of the things that a parent will need to think about when attempting to get their children to try new foods:

1.Don’t Force It

One of the biggest mistakes that most parents will make during this process is trying to force their children to try new foods. This can lead to a variety of problems and will usually not get you the results that you are after. In order for a child to feel comfortable with trying new foods, it will have to be their idea. Trying to force them will usually make them not want the new foods even more.

2. Let them Get a Bit Off of Your Plate

In some cases, the best way to get a child to eat new foods is by letting them try a bit off of your plate. Rather than ordering the child a big helping of a new food that they may or may not like, you need to be sensible about this. By taking the time to let them try a bit of the food of an order that you have, you will be able to find out if they like and whether or not they are ready for a full order.

3. Make it Fun

Often times, a parent will get so frustrated about a kid not trying new foods that they will get take all of the fun out of this process. By taking the time to interject a bit of fun into this process, a parent will be able to have a higher degree of success. Daring the child to eat something new or enticing them with a prize can have a very positive effect. The last thing that you want to do is make the child feel like you are mad at them about not trying new foods.

Garden Picks

There are various types and styles of food out there. This means that a parent should have no problem finding new and exciting things for their children to try.

I hope these tips help you like it help me too….
