You may see an ongoing trend in my blog entries. It looks like I have tried out all the Thai restaurants in Singapore that I could find. Here is one for my list of Thai restaurants in Singapore: Sa•Yum Thai. It is hidden in the bustling Club Street where you see a lane of various bars and restaurants for everybody’s personal preference. Sa•Yum stands as the only Thai restaurant in the neighbourhood. It can be located as you go uphill the street and we saw a bright yellow banner with Sa•Yum logo. This is a good restaurant to have meals with family, friends and kids. (They got kids menu!) You can sit at the back-end of the restaurant if you prefer a bit of quiet. It is also a great place to hang out, drink and order appetizers with friends until wee hours of the night. They would set up some tables on the streets to accommodate more customers. No cars are allowed to pass by at nigh fall.
We started with appetisers first….
Grilled Issara Sausage
For starters, we tried this traditional Thai pork sausage. This is an interesting dish because I have never tried any Thai sausages before. It is a perfect appetizer with beer or even as a viand with rice. It comes in a bite-sized portion. It is mildly spicy and rich with herbs & spices. It is great dipped in sweet chilli sauce.
Chicken Tom Kha Soup
We do away with the regular Tom Yum Soup and chose it. We were very happy with our choice. We drizzled our rice with this soup. This is a coconut soup with lemongrass, lime leaf and chicken. You can prawns instead of chicken if you prefer. Its flavor reminds you of a comforting home cooked by grandma. Its taste is amazingly good.
This is another interesting dish. This is actually a salad made of minced meat. This is a northern Thai staple minced chicken salad. Be careful though, it can be really spicy!
Pad Thai Fried Noodle
We may have done away with the regular known Thai food staple but we decided to stick to the usual Pad Thai to try it out. I love Pad Thai! It has that authentic flavor, no doubt. We happily met with the Thai chef when we were almost through with dinner. We wish there was more Pad Thai noodles for me and my hubby who was my dinner partner for that night.
Mango Sticky Rice
I am happy with portion of mango on top of the sweet nicely textured glutinous rice. I was happy to note that the mango was sweet and ripe. It was my hubby’s first time to try mango sticky rice and he was pleasantly surprise that he enjoyed it a lot.
Do come by Sa•Yum to try out their delicious authentic Thai dishes.
