The holiday seasons often make me miss my hometown in the Philippines. Most probably because Iloilo reminds me of my family back home, my parents, my siblings, my niece and nephews…
I remembered the last time we went home, I was so impressed with the improvements of my city. There is this brunch place called Dova who is managed by the same people behind Afriques and Escas, that I particularly like. They have their first branch in Lapaz and has another bigger branch in Megaworld.
I totally love the interiors of this place. It is definitely is instagrammable. You wont be embarrassed to bring your friends from other cities there. Even their toilet is picture-perfect.
And the other good thing about this place is that not only do they provide a wonderful ambience for family and friends to get-together, they also have awesome, delicious brunch foods concocted by the talent chef, Miguel Cordova. You should try the French Toast, Pulled Pork Burger, Querida Burger and Spaghetti & Meatballs. I failed to take the prices of the dishes because I was enjoying myself too much, the blogger in me took a temporary vacation.
This is a rich heavy meal perfect for sharing. It was cooked just right with a bit of crisp in the outside and soft in the inside. I love that you have the options of maple syrup and cream on the sides while your strawberry jelly, banana slices and confectionary sugar are generously slathered on top of it.
Pulled Pork Burger
This may not look like much but this is a great discovery for me. The pork is tender and flavorful. I couldnt get enough of it. The melted cheese sat well with the succulent pulled pork.
If you were to just pick one dish in the menu to order, I suggest you go for this one. The patty is fat and juicy which so much flavor. It has bacon in it too. I have this everytime I visit Dova. Though the pulled pork is starting to be my favorite replacing this one.
Spaghetti & Meatballs
Dova is very generous with their servicing. This one is no exception. It can be shared by 2-3 people. This is more of an Italian spaghetti which a prefer than the Pinoy spaghetti. You get 3 big fat meatballs and lots of lots of parmesan cheese gratings on top.
Do check this place out, it is definitely a must try!
