5 TIPS FOR BEAUTIFUL FAMILY HOLIDAY PHOTOS

August 4, 2018 by Little Miss Honey

Whether you’ve got that long-awaited family trip coming up or just a weekend getaway, it’s always nice to have something to remind you of the good times, the special moments and all that goofy holiday madness. Perhaps you’re looking to get a few of your best shots printed with one of the photo printing services, so you can have something tangible to leaf through on nostalgic Sunday afternoons.

Well, the good news is, it’s not that hard to get good, frame-worthy pictures. Even if photography isn’t your forte, here are a few simple things you can keep in mind to help you snapshot some of that holiday spirit!

  1. Get it in action

Let the photograph tell the story! You don’t have to go out of your way to get your family to pose to take good pictures. This is especially important if you’re trying to photograph young kids on holiday – who as a general rule have a hard time staying still. Take shots of them mid-action – while they’re busy being themselves. Whether in an animated conversation with their siblings, or petting a wandering street dog, nothing quite captures the essence of a family holiday like a kid in his/her element

2. The Family Portrait

If you have a holiday in a new place, it’s always nice to make that apparent in the background of your family portraits. That mandatory portrait is usually best shot outdoors, in natural lighting. While getting the family to pose, sometimes it can come across as unnatural. So if you’d like a more authentic touch to it, let the kids be themselves! Let their fun, silly or shy selves come across, and let your own personalities as parents shine through as well

3. Embrace Every Emotion

Most people generally want to capture moments where it’s all smiles and good times. But while a smile sure makes for a great picture – other emotions add their own special charm to a photograph. A kid’s boredom at the airport, mom’s serenity at the beach, the cautious dad by the pool – capture it all! Every emotion tells a story in itself.

4. Keep an Editing Tool Handy

If you want to take the quality of your pictures up a notch you could download a few simple editing apps (if you don’t have a decent one already), and make those few tweaks to your pictures to enhance them. You can play with a filter to highlight the mood or make a slight adjustment in the brightness. But, don’t go overboard to the point of making the picture lose its natural charm! The idea is to enhance the beauty of the picture without overpowering it.

5. Have fun with it

If you’re dealing with stubborn kids, make a game out of the whole thing. You can get everyone to take pictures of each other, rewarding the best one at the end of the day. Whatever works best for you! Don’t take yourself too seriously (you’re on holiday, remember?) and don’t turn into the drill sergeant that gets everyone to pose every five minutes.

So go ahead and capture those messy, quirky, happy holiday moments and create beautiful photographs you and your family can treasure. And if you’re looking to adorn your walls with some of those fond memories or create a little photo book of the good times, Photojaanic has got you covered! In the meantime, have a happy holiday!
