Giving birth to my son 6 months ago and with the nagging pressure from almost everywhere to lose the postpartum weight, I couldn’t help but search for inspirations to get rid of the 5 kg weight gain from pregnancy. Believe me, the 5 kg might not seem a lot for some but I barely reach 5 feet height and 5 kg is A LOT in my pint-sized stature (because it has nowhere else to go). Plus this 5 kg is a very sticky, clunky kilograms which wouldn’t budged even it feels like i tried everything. Losing the excess weight is not only about physical appearance, though it is still nice to continue looking sexy even with two kids. It is also means losing them will give me more energy to keep up with my active two boys.
It is not easy. (Even if most celebrities like Heidi Klum, Blake Lively, Kerry Washington, all the Victoria Secret models bounced back to their pre pregnancy body making it look like it doesn’t require any effort at all.) I am a full-time working mom living abroad with no nutritionist chef or personal trainer to help me in my weight loss journey. So in my attempt to search for inspirations, I stumbled into 5 of these healthy lifestyle advocates online….
- NIOMI SMART
Niomi Smart is a UK vlogger who post weekly videos on Youtube. I love her What I Eat In A Day videos. That is what got me hooked on her Youtube Channel. It inspired me to go back to my vegetarian (more pescetarian though) diet. She eats a plant-based diet and she also shares her work-outs in her channel. I love that her recipes are so easy to follow. She just recently published a cook book called Eat Smart just this September. I can’t wait to grab a copy of her book. I love watching her in her videos because she is such a gorgeous gal and she radiates a positive, cheerful vibe.
2. Sia Cooper
I found Korean-American Sia Cooper’s blog, Diary of a Fit Mommy when I saw a photo of her planking while breastfeeding. I followed her blog ever since. I think she is amazing and a super momma. She is a Florida-based mom of two. She just recently given birth to her 2nd child, a cutie baby girl. She shares work-outs in her blog and Facebook page. I love following recipes that she shares on Facebook because not only is it easy, it is so yummy too. I made her peanut butter cookies and my son & hubby loves it! She used to be a nurse but she quit her job, decided to blog and educate people on health & fitness full-time. I think this is really her calling. You can tell from her Facebook page and how she interacts with her community that she is such a sweet gal. She did have some critics on how she can still keep working out when she was pregnant and still have abs with a gravid belly but it looks like she knows what she is doing. She delivered a healthy baby girl, you guys! She also showed people that she can manage squeezing workouts even with a toddler and a baby by incorporating them in her workouts.
3. SARAH LEMKUS
This pretty mommy from New Zealand is an advocate of plant-based diet. I have always felt great when I eat mainly vegetarian (or at least pescetarian) so I found her Youtube channel when I was searching for some vegetarian recipes. She was diagnosed of PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) which can cause weight gain and infertility issues. After transitioning to a vegan diet, she got pregnant and felt amazing & loving how her body responds to her new diet. She shared her What I Eat in a Day in her Youtube channel and she also got a blog & instagram. You can also follow her in her Snapchat: Sarah Lemkus.
4. KATIE DUNLOP
I read Katie’s story in Popsugar. She used to weigh 45 pound heavier before. When she decided to stop her unhealthy habits and started researching on healthier diet & committing in having an active lifestyle, she never felt better and wanted to share her experience and knowledge to everyone. She started a blog and Youtube channel, Love Sweat Fitness. She uploads workout videos and shares tips in healthy diet in her social media accounts. She is such a girly-girl and has a cheery personality. You can follow her in Snapchat: Love Sweat Fitness.
5. WHITNEY ENGLISH
Not to be confused with the Whitney English who created The Day Designer Planner, this Whitney English is an Entertainment Reporter turned Healthy Living Blogger, NASM-Certified Personal Trainer, and soon-to-be Registered Dietician Nutriotinist. I recently followed her blog, To Live and Diet in L.A. when she got to interview Rachael Leigh Cook in her home. I want to try out some of her recipes soon especially her recent Spiced Sweet Potatoes with Coconut Cashew Sauce.
Do you have any other health & fitness advocates in social media you would like to add to the list?
